Current mood:  calm
October leaves are turning crimson and orange and for the first time in 6 months and it feels like the first rains of fall are finally about to hit Los Angeles...Thick fog makes its way up the canyon from the ocean as we wind up the narrow, twisting mountain road...The conversations between three friends driving home this evening revolve around: "living simply" v.s. getting wrapped up in vanity and consumerism in our reckless, detached society, the desire to feel like we are helping others rather than just serving ourselves, longings to travel to broaden our views of the cultures of the world and Megan's everlasting boyfriend problems... We are coming from the local open air shopping plaza in santa Monica - a 3 block streach of fancy shops with flashy neon lights and restaurants and bars habitated by tourists, teenage gutter punks, stranded homeless people, funky street musicians, jugglers, pan handlers and various hip hop culture flora and fauna...We have just seen the new film "the Motorcycle diaries" depicting Che Guevara and his amorous and outspoken best friend, as recent medical college graduates, travelling through South America. The movie followed their fantastic stories as they were documented in letters to his mother and entries in his journal - here is where he met all the displaced farmers, exploited mine workers and landless peasants who seemingly had sparked his interest in community organizing and communism. This film had so much heart and good humour, it breaths with passion, color and is an inspirational look at this heretic's life before he went to Cuba - We gave it 3 thumbs "way" up.

Humanity Spirit.   Humanitarian Spirit?!

http://www.babalublog.com/archives/002354.html  I am sure dead journalists, imprisoned opposition, and various dead peasants and the like agree with you.

"...ruthless tactician capable of ordering the execution of traitors and waverers.. "  http://www.moreorless.au.com/heroes/guevara.html

And just for the record, it was CHE who came up with the idea of death squads and summary executions in leu of spending resources for them to be locked up in prison, for those who opposed cuba's new official government.

I Enjoyed looking at your profile, but this commentor's understanding of deplorable, and whomever was their teacher in school should be fired.
