This is Spitdust's first blog, why?, mostly because my friend Leigh said "why havent you got a blog?"... (because they're mostly eyeball gougingly boring, dull and self-indulgent?) Well here it is.... prepare to yawn: Hello, Paul here.... we had our first gig as "Spitdust" this weekend; all acoustic with Ros, myself, Dan and Karl of "Toupe" and "Carolinnes Capochinenneieene" parachuting in for a splendid seat-of-his-pants job on bass. It was in front of lots of slightly bemused 60 year old ex-hippies at my mum's birthday party.. most of whom looked confused but clapped politely with occasional outbursts of manic embaressed vigour. We played a few dementedly fast blue grass tunes.. Dan actually catching fire and melting the right side of his body after "Soldiers Joy". Then some guitar diddling folk numbers, amongst which Ros did an amazing impression of Maddi Prior... We finished with our strange space-opera-mexican song "Servalan" in this instance, minus the Blake Seven keyboard that marks the jump to hyper-space.... apologies here to the keyboard player, who said he didn't think he really wanted to play with us anyway, but was slightly resentfull at not being asked. All in all we had a spiffing time, and hopefully we'll be bringing our oddball roadshow to some younger.. more bemused audiences soon.... goodbye
