We did manage to make it out to SXSW Fest in TX so that was a good thing.
Our management scrambled to find some sponsorship $$$ and with the economy the way it is it seems easier to win the damn lottery.
We were offered a slot @ ROCKLAHOMA & a slot at the ROCKLAHOMA pre-party along a few week tour with Dirty Penny. We were a little iffy on hitting ROCKLAHOMA again after last years experience, plus making the $$$ work again was a major headache. Money the root of evil.
The record company was in the middle of getting us on the Bulletboys/Faster Pussycat tour (that is finishing up ) and some sponsorship money was found. This money hinged on X amount of dates and there was a lag on date conformation so that drug on and on.
Scozz then had an unfortunate freak accident and fractured his right ankle taking him out of action for several weeks at best. That pretty much drove the stake into the FP/BB tour.
Next up...Chris decided to move on leaving us yet again minus a lead guitarist and pursue his project Soulbread. Guitarists with us are liken to drummers in Spinal Tap. Next.
Search was on, a lot of great responses. The record Company forwarded a guy to us and long story short, he was the one. Who is he? We have not made the official announcement yet and will soon. He fits in perfectly and ladies, you will be quite happy, just one request, go easy on him.
So everything is again looking up, right. EHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Wrong. What happens next a few days before new guy is coming down to play? Scozz is involved in a car crash with best friend Wags on the way back from getting together with the guys for the first time since injuring his ankle. Result of this? Broken rib, banged up knees, lower back strain and a reinjured left ankle! Wag's ride was totaled and he injured his left arm. Does AV have the worst luck in the world?
This accident pretty much killed the rest of the summer for us. We decided to just break in the new guy, let Scozz heal, and kick around riffs for a new record.
All is looking good. The CD is selling, could be worse, could be better. Digital downloads are doing really well.
Chavis Records just struck up a Euro Distro Deal with the Chavis Catalog being manufactured overseas (Germany we think). So that is a huge plus and there are talks about going over to Europe with our label mates the Bulletboys. We shall see.
So we will announce our new guitarist soon so look for that in the coming weeks & he will make his debut @ The Buckhead Music Festival on Oct. 16th & the following night @ the SOHO.
Whew. Thanks for all the support!
