Friday night was a good laugh. We played a benefit for the big issue in Bath. We got there and just as we were ready to soundcheck, phil's guitar fell apart. dan came to the rescue with a toolkit in his car. then i broke a string. dan's car does not currently carry spare strings. this prompted him to go off on one (and yes rightly so) about how we should all have spares. ANYWAY, Oedipus were kind enough to lend us their rather trendy Thunderbird bass and we were set! The gig was actually pretty cool, it was in the cellar of a pub, and must be vaguely like what the early Libertines gigs were like.

me rocking out like The Edge. silly hats and signature pizza to follow. After the gig I went clubbing in Bristol and was almost decked my some meat-head after being pushed into him. managed to get away from that, and to bed at about 4am! We got up and went into town to try and get me a new string in preparation for the London gig and to avoid another telling off from Dan (me and phil are both cowboys apparently). ALL THREE MUSIC SHOPS IN BRISTOL WERE SHUT! nightmare. so, we thought we'd have to chance it, and hope to borrow another bass on arrival. 3 hours of a drive later, we're pulling into a very dark road in Islington to find that theres been a big power cut which no one knew about. the promoter hadn't been told by the venue, and he was PISSED. He told us to go to the pub and await some news. We ended up in Filthy McNasty's, somewhere I'd read about for my dissertation. Pete Doherty used to work there, and it was the home of some of some early libertines gigs. 3 very expensive pints and a game of shithead later, we were told we could go home. ace. The venue looked really nice, but a good night's kip before work at 9am seemed a much more attractive option. Hereford on friday. looking forward to it.
