Current mood:  jedi
Despite lack of better judgement, I feel it necessary to look back over the last summer and comment on how my personl solo "tour" went.  And what I mean by lack of better judgement is that have decided to talk about all the good and the bad (despite who might get their panties in a wad).  This has been a great and uplifting experience for me.  I grabed my guitar, got in my car, and took off to play my tunes in a way which is most satisfying... just an acoustic guitar and a mic.  I met some of the coolest people on my travels and some really cool bartenders.  I also met a lot of unprofessional people and bar managers that almost make you feel sorry for them...  For everyone who came out in support of me, to the bar owners and talent managers that gave me a chance, to my family and friends that let me crash at there place constantly; thank you from the bottom of my heart, you are the reason that I can keep doing what I truely love.  Over the summer I've also developed a great professional releationship with my new booking agency, Full Cup Talent, and I'm looking foward to a bright future with them.

On a second note; to the assholes who thought it was cute to steal merchandise or pull money out of my tip jar when I had my back turned... go fuck yourselves... you people are sad.  To the unprofessional bar owners and bartenders... you know who you are, I deeply feel sorry for you guys... word travels all to fast in this business about assholes like you and your bars usually go belly up sooner than later.  You too can go fuck yourselves.

You know one thing I've realized is that no matter what you do in life there is always a perfect balance of those really awesome people you like to surround yourselves with and those special people that you can compare so impressively to the white spots on the top of chicken shit.  Whether it be in an office with bosses that need to feed their ego by insulting you in front of co-workers or bar owners who say they understand the "struggles" of a working musician yet cancel you the day before a show after you've traveled 250 miles to go play it, or just people in general that hate the world and like you to know about it every fucking second of every god-damned day... they are everywhere.  These are the people that strengthen my resolve.

There now... I'm off that soapbox

Someday I will finish my new record.  Everytime I think I'm on the final stretch one or two more songs come up that I feel have to be on the record.  In this process I've come up with about 30 potential songs and the hard part is trying to finish them all!

Probably by next weekend I will take off the 30 second clip on my other myspace page and put the whole song up here.

I just decided I am going to Disney World for the first time in my life... thats right... Disney World (huah!!!)

I would just like to end by saying thank you to all those that support ORIGINAL ARTISTS.  From the folks that risk a $5 cover change to see a band thay have never heard of and play songs they never heard of, thank you for giving those bands the drive to keep working harder and clapping and hollering at the end of every song.  To all the local DJs whether you work for a large corporate station or a small podcast, thank you for supporting local artists trying to make a dream a reality.  To all the bar owners that give a night to local original artists and take a risk on them instead of the standard crappy cover band, thank you for giving us the opportunity to perform and gain new fans.  To the web developers who create websites devoted to spreading the attention of original artists, thank you for giving us a place to showcase our music that took a year to save up to record.  To all the others thank you... THANK YOU.

Matthew

i thought this was very well written

i'm glad you're being honest - it's truly refreshing

disney world is THE BEST - no matter what age you are

let me know what you think of magic mountain :D

p.s. if you go to disney - try to stay at one of the resorts - it really makes the trip several stars better. i recommend the polynesian resort. some of the resorts, including the polynesian, they have a monorail right in the hotel and you don't have to mess with the whole parking mess. it's just an incredible experience.
