Who Gives Kudos:

Being the music geek that I am, last night, I caught the movie Cadillac Records. Like all movies based on true stories, they stretched the truth for dramatic reasons. However, if you sleep, eat, & breath music, the movie is a must see.

If you saw Dream Girls, the story, which is based on the Chess Record label, will feel familiar. However, the cast of off the wall characters that recorded for Chess never allow the story to get dull.

For those unfamiliar with Chess contribution to popular music, imagine a world with no Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys, Eric Clapton any many of the popular figures of the Rock explosion of the late 50's & 60's. Chess Records, with their ensemble of artist such as Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Willie Dixon, Howling Wolf, Chuck Berry, & Etta James provided the world with what would be the blueprint for Rock & Roll Music. If the names I just mentioned are new or vaguely familiar to you, more the reason to get your ticket.

I agree the movie is a must see, I actually saw it twice this weekend. Being a musician the musical and social aspects of each character is intriguing. Just to know the history, how it all started an where it evolved to was enlightening and fun to watch.
