For those who don't know, a few years back, around the time of the Myspace explosion, Division X was connected to a heavyweight production company that has a member, who is a major industry power broker. With the big shot's blessing, these guys supposedly attempted to get us a record deal on a major label. Obviously, it didn't work. So after wasting a year, dealing with corporate BS, I asked for our album & hit the town running.

Now that some time has passed, I can reflect on that time period and ask myself, "Why didn't it work? The answer I've come to is simple. The music industry is full of people who are out of touch with the needs of all the people. I was arguing with people who were clueless to what I knew. While I was explaining to them that people wanted change, they wanted us to be a copycat act. While people on Myspace were giving us positive feed back about our music the way it was, the production company wanted us to record songs that catered to what they thought our direction should be. A direction that was based on us making music to satisfy the idiots in charge of handing out record deals. They would say things like, "make more songs like the Black Eye Peas," or "maybe we should put a girl in the group?"

That's why I thank God for Myspace & the internet, period. With all these options, the idustry idiots are slowly but surely losing their strangle hold on music. They are no longer needed. Why go to anyone else but he people? If we waited around, and played the industry game, we'd be sitting around frustrated.

With the internet you can have the type of interaction with people that is priceless. The kind of interaction that lets you know that you are not off base. That it's them, & not you who doesn't know what the fuck they are talking about.
Online is how you can reach the people, and get this type of feedback.

I like the refreshing new artistic original style that y'all are bringing forth. Keep it up because im tired of everybody wanting to be lil or young when I grew up in hip hop there was bigs everywhere daddy Kane, pun ,L biggie keep that shit grown fam and im with you

Peace

Now imagine trying to explain that to the folks in the industry who signed all the Young's & Lil's a few years back. Does any one wonder why after Jeezy & Wayne, all the Lil's & Young's, copycat artist that they are, are hard to pick out of a police lineup?
