Aiight yall,

I know that the U.S. media tends to black out almost everything that is happening around the world, and although its not covered Haiti is suffering WAY more than Galvaston right now. Below is a message from regarding a fund rasier that is being held at SOB's this Monday to help the crisis going on right now in the wake of Haiti in particular the city of Gonaives; being hit by four, I repeat  four storms, 2 of them hurricanes in the past few weeks. Hopefully you can attend. if not visit http://www.yele.org to find out what you can do to help.

Just remember that because of the Haitian Revolution many of the Latin American liberation movements had financial and military support. The countries of Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Dominican Republic and Ecuador would not exist if it wasn't for Haitian help. The Emancipation Proclamation would have never have been signed and race based slavery could still be a reality. Take care of the place that facilitated your own freedom. Haiti.

Below is a copy of a press release from my friends over at SOB's nightclub in New York.

==================================================

Greetings to the SOB's Family,

By now, we all have been informed of the current tragic circumstances that has befallen the island nation of Haiti these past few weeks. The Country has endured four hurricane category storms: Hanna, Gustav, Fay and Ike. These storms have left death, flooding, devastation and untold sufferings in their wake.

Already billed as the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, needless to say the impact these hurricanes wreaked on the already fragile infrastructure of Haiti. With a death toll nearing 700 persons and over 600,000 people displaced by the effects of these hurricanes, the country is now dealing with reviving itself in the aftermath of this current crisis. As we all know, Haiti has been in crisis for a very long time. While most of us have watched the news, and talked about the Haitian Crisis, it's now time for ACTION from all of us, not just from the Haitian Diaspora and the Caribbean Diaspora, Haiti's crisis is a Human Crisis and All People should unite and give to the cause.

At SOB's, Home of Haitian Music & Culture in Manhattan, we have been serving the Haitian community consistently for the past 26 years. We would like to invite all people to come and donate to Haiti's Flood Victims, We are collaborating with NYHMI (New York Haitian Music Industry United For Haiti) on their great initiative with HAITI SOS-BENEFIT CONCERT on Sunday September 21st. Please support that concert at Club Amazura, and the Sak Pasé Kreyol Hip-Hop showcase at SOB's on Monday, September 22nd. SOB's is open to collaborate with all interested parties in any efforts to help out the current haitian crisis.

SUPPORT THE CULTURE THAT SUPPORTS YOU!!! PLEASE HELP HAITI!!
