Current mood:psychic awareness
"Eleven tracks on this thirty three minute CDR release. Thickly distorted fuzzy riffs in a phased and filtered guitar and haze fueled freak out.  Tweaking frequencies sputter beneath stuttering mountain ranges. Brutal thumping churns, bells, rattles, gongs and dreams are cast, heavy boots march down long metal corridors, blues gets dragged down the alley and force-fed tin foil, malfunctioning neon lights blaze with a strange intensity" George Parsons, Dream Magazine 8

also the Ptolemaic Terrascope has published the following review in the latest "Rumbles" :

Those of you who enjoy walls of fucked up guitar mutilations should enjoy the latest offering from Howling Magic, which continues on the path of his earlier work whilst displaying a definite progression, the sounds being tighter and more focused, increasing the tension by softening the density slightly. Including 11 songs in 33 minutes means that each piece blends into a sonic whole, every one a variation on a theme, with electronics adding subtle touches to the aural assault, as on "Dream Sequence" where the quietness of the piece is in sharp contrast with those that surround it. I know Phil's a big fan of his stuff, and as Terrascope readers you've gotta love musicians who follow  their own path with such passion and commitment, so hats off to J. Rakuisin; an intrepid explorer of sound. (jrakusin@gmail.com)
