Greetings and Blessings I and I from the most high Jah Rastafar I

Soooo....  I write to our old school friend Matisyahu ( featured on our first album Domesticated on "cant get a job") about the Republican National Convention Protest concert. ( RNC blog will be posted soon). He sends me a note saying "I am headed into the studio in Jamaica with David Kahn ( Sublime, Soul  Coughing,  Paul McCartney, James Brown ) to produce an album....... YOU AND MARK SHOULD COME !"

No doubt I had air tix about 5 minutes later !

We went into the infamous Anchor studios in Kingston with the legendary dynamic duo Sly and Robbie.  This place is the center of the Jamaican music scene, (in which they have played for virtually every prominent Jamaican musical artist from Beenie Man to Sean Paul to Peter Tosh, Black Uhuru, Gregory Isaacs Dennis Brown and others), they have been one of pop music's most sought after rhythm sections, playing for and producing superstars such as Ben Harper, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, the Rolling Stones, Fugees, Culture, Bunny Wailer, Joe CockerHerbie Hancock, Michael Franti, StingCarlos Santana, Sinéad O'Connor, and many more.
Hows that for a life time achievment !!

Pure magic watching these kids at work ! The new Matis album is mind melting and it was a great honor to have witnessed a part of it. We are busting with inspiration and came home in a fever to get recording again.

Marks style of production in Wookiefoot has been profoundly influenced by the genious of David Kahne. This was a prolific event for Mark to see the master at work. We slipped David a copy of "Activate" .... the idea of which gives up chills and thrills !  a great Honor to have him listen to us.

As if this all wasnt enough... we go out into the courtyard  and this Rasta elder rolls up with big luv and super high vibes .... we all start just laughing and smiling for no real reason ... then "bongoman" (of the Wailers) says "AHH TOOTS RESPECT I MAN".  I'm thinking " did he just say TooTs" like Toots and the Maytals !?!?!?... get the 'F' outa here !!!  WOW.... sure as SH!T the man himself on site to bless up this creation.

Mark, Matis, and I went to visit BoB Marleys house on Hope Rd. What a trip to be standing on Bobs porch where he contemplated in his hammock and feel the vibes sooo strong. His African hand drums where beside his bed and I tell you we could barely contain our desire to throw down some "Rasta Man Chant" on them.

Our journey ended with  a trip to SOS Childrens Village in Stone Hill Kingston. Sos is a program for orphans that we support with funds raised at Project Earth. The idea is that children are raised in a group house with 10 brothers ans sisters and a Mom or Auntie as they call her. In this way the kids are supported and feel the effects of family. Dozens of these houses share community facilities and schooling. Beautiful and simple.... give thanx !

just wanted to share a small piece of divinity at play in our world.
Matis will be joining us on stage at the RNC in Sept. There will be a blog up soon with details.
respect and luv

Tim

I couldn't believe it when Aimee told me about your adventure. What an amazing story ... it had to be even more amazing actually living it. I've been to Jamaica a handful of times and it was nothing less than peace on earth. The people of the island are just as wonderful as the scenes Jamaica has to offer. One of the hubby's uncles owns a resort in Negril and we hope to go back soon. Thank you for sharing this with us. I'm SO excited for you guys!

All i have to say is my older brother is so jealous of you guys. He is a huge fan of Bob Marley he has all of his CDS and he has bought me a baby bed time CD by Bob Marley for my son to listen to when he is born. I think its great that you guys get to do these kinds of things and see this stuff to be inspired to make your music and come out with an awsome album like you always do.
Peace and Love

Did you guys make it up to 9 Mile?? If you didn't, definitely do it when you go back! Its a long journey into the mountains, but its beautiful. Derrick and I went up there in January to see Bob's birth and resting place, its amazing! A Rasta blessed my big pregnant belly and I think from that point on we knew our baby's name would be Marley! It only made sense!!!!
Glad to see you made it there and back safely, we'll see ya at PE!

Love- Melissa, Derrick, and Marley!!
