I just found out the terrible news that Road Records is closing!
Oh no. That is a very sad day for Dublin, Ireland and to all the foreigners who can only get Irish records at their store!
One of the nails in the coffin for a city possibly losing it's vibrancy and innovation if it's not careful or maybe I have a slightly distorted view from a distance.

I just wrote to to thank them for all the great help that they gave to me. One couldn't buy the kind of support that they gave to me and countless others.
I was so honored to have a single on their label and they made my lifelong dream come true by releasing me on vinyl.
I used to be so nervous going in to their shop until my artist friend, Mark Garry convinced me that they were extremely approachable and sweet.

Unlike Mark, I didn't buy enough at Road but I didn't buy anywhere because I was always broke.

On the up side, it means a change and somewhere new for the two innovators to plant another beautiful seed for the world to be a better place.
I have a baby who is 9 months old so I know the pressures too but it doesn't have to stop one in endeavoring and achieving great, creative and brilliant things.
I also know constant disappointments in career and business.
That side of things hasn't gotten better for me but I have found a way to embrace life in a positive way even if it doesn't always turn out how I had wished or hoped.
I have love and I am creative so that seems to sustain me in happiness for the most part.
This could be a great change and chance for Road to go on and turn a corner in an unknown territory.
It will definitely be a loss though to the lovers of indie music, especially small Irish releases. Road was the only place that people from outside of Ireland could get my releases.
I wish Dave and Julie and their little baby the best of luck in their future projects.

The Good News is that Road Records may be saved(Article from the Irish Times)

There may be light at the end of the tunnel for independent music outlet Road Records. The shop, opened in 1997 on Fade Street in Dublin 2, had been scheduled to close in the coming weeks. Owners Dave Kennedy and Julie Collins blamed a shortage of footfall and an increase in illegal downloads, among other factors, for its demise.

However, plans for a “Save Road Records” investment club – involving members of the Irish music industry and others buying shares in the company – are currently being finalised.

“I can’t say too much about it yet, but yes, it’s true,” said Kennedy. “It’s a distinct possibility that we will carry on at this stage. I’m relieved, more than anything else.

“It’s just brilliant news,” said regular Road customer Sean Kenny. “In a time of doom and gloom, it’s like a little fairytale. And I think it’ll teach a lot of people that that they should get out there and support their local indies before its too late.
