Hey
Young Believer is a three-piece indie pop-rock
band from San Francisco, best described as a mix of Cat Power and
Metric with a bit of
early No Doubt thrown in. We play live guitar, drums and keys coupled
with sampled bass lines, synths and percussion. We play regular shows
in San Francisco and have previously toured the Pacific Northwest.
We're pleased to announce the completion of our first full-length
album, "Invisible by Day," now available on iTunes and at Amazon.com.
We
record and produce our own music, so with the exception of some studio
drum tracking, the new album was recorded entirely in a bedroom. It's
amazing what you can do with direct inputs, a nice microphone and some
sound isolation foam. The ending of "Spark" is a nice example of the
joy of unlimited studio time.
Hey Young Believer got started when Lilly Wolfson and Alex
Neuhausen met at Stanford in spring of 2006. Nick Shilling, the drummer, joined that winter. Our
name comes from the Rancid song "Black Lung Fever" from their album "Life
Won't Wait." It's a phrase that could preface
all sorts of questions, especially about modern orthodoxies. What does
it mean to believe in something and should we? Can we trust ideologies
or is everything really just being sold to us? Are the kids alright?
