So i guess this going to be a little bitch session but it's well deserved. Bands when you play shows with other bands could you please stay after your set and watch the other bands. Not only is it dissrespectful to just take off after your set it hurts every band on after you. Local bands need to help support eachother or no one will ever make it in this business.
You see when your playing your fans come in and if you leave they leave. Try sticking around and chatting with your fans and watching the other acts. This will expose your fans to other bands and in return can help gain a following for those bands as well. It's not a fucking competition! I think it's pretty sad that some bands are so self centered that they can just leave after their done, and this is a big part of why the local scene in Michigan is failing!

Just a thought - show some unity!!!!

Blood Of The Prophets(On tour NOW!)

this is very true... when we are done with our set we go out in the crowd and tear down. the ONLY occasion we leave is when we're in the type of neighborhood where our shit can get stolen

I stayed and watched every local from Harpo's and loved it. But I only do backflips for my favorites. : D

Keep on tearing it up,
Kevin

It doesnt just hurt the band, it also hurts the venue. Which in turn hurts all the bands. No butts in seats no booze to be sold. No money to be made. No band to play. This is why so many venues have gone to DJ's. We dig those that support. This is the only way to save the scene. Good words.

Absolutely man! THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION! THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION! THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION! THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION! IT'S NOT LIKE FAN'S ARE GOING TO CHOOSE ONE BAND AND BE LOYAL TO THEM AND ONLY THEM! ANY FANS THAT DISRESPECT BANDS JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW THEM PERSONALLY ARE NOT WORTH HAVING AS FANS. IF WE ALL HELP EACH OTHER OUT, WE ARE IN TURN HELPING OURSELVES. THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT JUST DON'T GET IT. WHEN I WAS 15-16 GOIN TA LOCAL SHOWS, A LOT OF THE BANDS KNEW EACH OTHERS SONGS, AND CALLED ONE ANOTHER UP ON STAGE TO SING ALONG TOGETHER. I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT IN YEARS. MAYBE I MISSED THOSE SHOWS, I HOPE SO. FOR THE PAST 5-6 YRS I GET THE VIBE LIKE I'M INVADING JUST BY BEING TO CLOSE TO THE STAGE WHEN A BAND I DON'T KNOW WELL IS PLAYING. MUSIC IS SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT HAVING A BLAST RELEASING EMOTION, NOT TRYING TO BE THE NEXT SLICED BREAD.

GOD I MISS THOSE DAYS ! There was so much unity and support between bands, we all knew each others tunes and stood up front and rocked the fuck out for our friends. If your guitar broke a string and you didnt have a back up, every band that night had a guy offering his guitar to help you finish the show. Your amp fried, you had ten people rolling their shit up for you to plug into without even THINKING about it.

This is the vibe that is missing so much from the scene now adays. Its fucking sad. But well said my friend.
Keep the faith !

where the fuck are all you guys when i do shows???   and we all know those bands that only want to have 'weaker' bands on the bill with them cuz it makes them look better by comparison.   what we should do is just blackball the bands that utilize practices that work against the scene.  but i'm just an asshole like that, heh.

I do agree that some local bands are disrespectful, but it's not always the bands doing.  Much of the crowd that the band brings only want to see that band, and will take off no matter what the band does.  My band is almost always the ..last ..to leave the bar and my fans are almost alway the ..first.. to leave...no matter how many shots I try to plow them with.

i agree 100% , amen to that brother. there is nothing worse than seeing a packed bar when you get there, then when its your turn to play you look around and the whole room is now only a 1/4 full. it sucks.
