Time and time again I'm hearing about another artist paying big bucks just to hear some A&R guy give their opinion about their music.  I've had enough of it.  So much money is being made off of people's ANTICIPATION of making it in this industry.  It is cruel and unjust and it has to stop.  There are people that spend their last paycheck on this.  And when the competition, show, or phone call is over, they are broke and nowhere close to where they were trying to get to in the first place.

My advise is take that same money and invest in yourself.   Not some person that you will only see or talk to once and who is not interested in investing in your career.   Think peope!!!! Spend money on getting the right masterminds involved and get the right song done.  Once you get yourself together, you will find that all the doors you're looking for will just open up for you because the industry will see that YOU have it together and that YOU are confident in the material.

In these trying times, everyone is trying to get in to the game.  Some feel that it's their only way out of their messed up situation.  And most are willing to do anything! even pay thousands of dollars just to stand in the same room with industry people.

Remember:  You can get an opinion for free.  The money you put into YOUR music can last you a lifetime............

I agree!!! I got got caught up in one of those scams. I paid over $100 to get on a conference call with 7 other writers and artists who paid up to $300 to get our songs heard and critiqued by an A&R rep. Out of all of us they really only showed interest in one artist. -And who knows what happened with that! ..I'd rather pay money to get my lyrics sung, produced and arranged on a hot track than THROW IT AWAY on another scam. As writers, artists and producers starting out we are all HUNGRY! The scammers FEED off of this. Don't waste your hard work and god-given talent on them. Put your money where YOUR mouth is...(that means in yourself).

I feel you your anguish in reference to those who take it blindly with no Vaseline (lol). The crooks usually get to the artists before we do (what a shame). There's an old saying that goes, "those who fail to see the sucker punch, deserves the fat lip". Just as with any business or major purchase, make sure you know what you're getting into before you get into it. I highly suggest that everyone seeking a career in the entertainment industry, educate themselves by reading a few music/entertainment business books or reference guides in order to know what to expect, prior to jumping in. ....
