I was lucky enough to have a sneak preview of this DVD recently and I would thoroughly recommend it to any fan of Pierce and / or The Gun Club. Its pretty close to a warts and all look at the life of Jeffrey Lee Pierce as told by friends, former band mates and other associates. Some critics have JLP tagged as just another junkie rock'n'roller whilst others see him as a maverick genius.
Whichever view you support there's no denying that his is an interesting story - from his days as president of the Blondie Fan Club, writer with Slash magazine and of course founder member of one of the most innovative and somewhat controversial bands to emerge from the US punk scene over the past 3 decades - The Gun Club.

The film's director Kurt Voss (pictured) is a huge Gun Club fan and therefore treats his subject with integrity and a little sympathy but doesn't try to airbrush the fact that JLP could be a right pain in the arse and a difficult kunt to work with! The film features interviews with ex-Gun Club members Kid Congo Powers, Ward Dotson, Terry Graham, Jim Duckworth, and Dee Pop as well as interviews with Dave Alvin (Blasters), John Doe (X), Henry Rollins (Black Flag, Rollins Band) Mike Martt (Tex and the Horseheads), Peter Case (Plimsouls), and a special appearance by Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead). The only downside is that the film contains no Gun Club music
due to copyright / financial issues but don't let that put you off as all of the interviewees are interesting characters in themselves and have the ability to hold your attention with plenty of witty / interesting anecdotes / stories.
