NO MORE GENOCIDE
(Abolish Columbus Day)

THE OWNER OF HISTORY
By Marco “Red Eagle” Cinque
Today we will tell o story; but care full
The story changes according to the mouth that tells it
So we will try to tell you a different story
A story not mentioned and distorted on our books
It is the story of the lost people of history
The story of those who have no voice
Those children of a “lessen gos”
Those considered “nobody”
Who do not have place in history
Yes, today we will tell a different story
And we will be only the humble spokesmen
It is a forked story, denied and mystified
The story of the American Native.
Our story begins with sayng that in 1492
The great Cristoforo Colombo discovered America
Their story replay that in 1492
A confused and hungry shipwrecked person called Colombo
Was peacefully welcome, nursed and fed
Their story also tells that what we call “New World”
Was a land already inhabited by millions of people, Civilizations discovered several centuries before Colombo arrival.
Our story inderlines that we ha brought progress, civilization and giustice
Tho those ignorant, savage and vicious people.
Their story tells us that our magnificat progress
Hos brought the sward and the rifle
Has brought the arrogance of colonialism
The dispossession of lands, nassacres, alcohol
Infected blonkets, viruses, bactarie, the conquest of west
Their story explains that our envied civilization
Has brought fences and private properties
Ghetto-reservation, alienation, poverty.
And their story continues to explain that we have introduced a coplete different concept of justice, very distant from their idea of righteousness
And we have exported aour prisons, our mad-houses
When they even didn’t know the words to describe them
We have imposed them our religion and our culture
We have washed their mouths with soap
To prevent them from handing down their heritage
Their language, their knowledge, their culture…
We are the sickle that have cut the lives and memories of great people.
But we have no traces of this onour history books
That inauspicious day of the year 1492
For us is only an anniversary for the celebration of our ostentatiousness
But for them, it is the tragic anniversary
Of the largest ad methodical genocide in the history of human race: 70 millions lives cancelled in a century.
One fifth of the population of the planet of those times.
Was sent to ride in the blue pastures by our civilized ancestors.
A slaughter of biblical proportion
Named with hypocrisy “Evident Fate”
But to day, history has rediscovered us better people and more understanding
We the conquerorsand discoverers
With all those beautiful book and movies
Written, directed, and played by ourselves
Where we tell of our repentance
The injustices inflicted to the “discovered people”
Where we are accustomed to perform our tear full remose
But for every book and every film
We never forget to collect money!
Our vips, our right minded people
Who continue to speculate so easily
Do we really understand and know their oral culture?
Dowe really believe we can tlllit withour written culture
And with arrogance we claim we can talk in their behalf?
After we have colonized them, butchered them, stolen their
Land and deported them
Now we continue to deprive them of the little bit they got left.
Their faces, their traditions, their names
Rabbed over and over with no restraint
Used for our scanty advertising campaigns
Cherokee and Cheyenne transformed in cars
Apache armed with tomahawks missiles
That become flying machines of death and devastation
This is! This is what we do!
You really feel you could be a real Apache and scream:
“Stupid! We are not helicopters! We are PEOPLE! We are PEOPLE…
And may be now we may be able to understand…
So, careful
The story changes according to the mouth that tells it
So, this evening we will try to tell one of their stories:
It is the story of the lost people of history
The story of those who have no voice
Those children of a “lessen gos”
Those considered “nobody”
Who do not have place in history
