September 29, 2008 - Monday

Current mood:  adventurous
I wanted to get a facial the other day. The cheapest one i could find was for $100, a bit too much for me right now. So I talked to the lady that waxes me, she's an esthetician and she said that most of the facial products she uses were organic, she uses pumpkin, strawberries, honey, etc. I scoured the internet looking for homemade spa recipes and found a few i wanted to try. I'm going ton attempt to document over the next few weeks, what i use, and see if they are going to work. You know, lower blemishes and make my skin glow. Also, if anyone reading this happens to have any recipes of their own, please share.

Tonight:
Hair-- Mayonnaise
Skin-- 1 egg, oatmeal, 1-tsp olive oil, lemon juice
Lips-- sugar, 1-tsp olive oil

I usually use baking soda once a month or so to exfoliate. Just make sure to moisturize after and don't leave the soda on too long.

I'll add that to my list. Did you just use a little water with it?

Waaiit. You're gonna put mayonnaise in your hair?? What is exactly is that supposed to do? Other than make your hair taste a little like a turkey sandwich, I mean.

I had not tried mayo before so i was skeptical, however, it feels so soft today! It was sticky and weird on the hair but now it's so shiney! So i say yes to the mayo! If you try it let me know, from a guys perspective what you think ok? All you do is put about a half cup all over your head (dry hair), leave about 15mins, wash out with shampoo. :)

UUUhhh, I'm kinda lacking in hair department, sweetheart. Perhaps I should try putting it in on my beard? lol

The olive oil is actually really great for your hair, too. Especially if you can sleep with it in (covered of course).

I have also used egg for my hair but you have to make sure that the water when you rinse is lukewarm or the egg will cook in your hair. Curse words soon to follow, lol.

Do you put straight olive oil on your hair? I have a couple of mixes that say add a table spoon to the mixture but i didnt know about putting it straight on. I can see how it would be softening.
As for the eggs, yolk and all? or just whites?

I would be scared that olive oil would make my face breakout worse...it is, after all, oil. Maybe I'm wrong tho, lemme know how it goes!!

i didnt put but a 1 tspoon in the mixture. I dont think i'd put much more than that either. But it felt so moist and soft after. I have others to try this week that use honey. I'll see if it works better than olive oil.
