"What's Going On"

April 30th, 2008

Okay, I'm having "blog withdrawals", so I had to write today. You all kept me busy and interested as I read all of your thought provoking comments from the last two entries. Trust me, I wanted to respond to all of you, but time just would not permit. Thank you for engaging with me in discussion and ideas. It was really exciting!

I thought it would be a good idea if I shared with you some of what is going on right now. And BELIEVE ME, it's a lot.

On April 20th, I started doing an exciting three-part series called "Before You Do". "Before You Do: Making Great Life Decisions" is the title of my next book and I really think you all are in for a treat with this one. This book touches on some hard questions and addresses all of the "what if's" you should ask before making any big decision including marriage, divorce, buying a house, having a baby and other major life-altering decisions. Those of you who attend the church and view from the internet have been able to see the series. I hope you're enjoying it! For everyone else, keep an eye out because I'll have some clips from this series coming your way soon. [*Moderator's Note: It has come to our attention that the Sunday services featuring "Before You Do" are not available via the live streaming portal. We apologize for any confusion.]

We also have an awesome conference coming up with Back II Bible, May 16-18. If you are a Word-loving Christian, this conference is for you! I realize that catering to people who only like to hear the same speakers they've heard before is limiting the many gifted people who have in depth word but may not be as well known as others. Many of my speakers have spoken at universities and colleges. These are a team of people who I believe have been with the Lord and also shut themselves up in a room long enough to warrant and deserve your attention all day long. Of course I am humbled to be listed on program with them and I will be sharing that day as well. At the end of the day all of us cannot go to school but we can surely hear those who did, or have worked and labored in the Word for years and are ready to share something of significance to those who are ready to go to the next level.

Oh my God, it is going to be great! There will be intense, biblically-based teaching and preaching and soul-stirring worship and praise. Come on out with your bibles, pads, and pens. Don't forget that the Friday night service is open to the public and you don't have to be registered to attend that session. However, the Saturday sessions will require a very modest registration fee. For more information and to register, click here.

Okay, I am going back to work. I have to get ready for Sunday—which will be my last Sunday on the theme "Before You Do." I really want to be sure that I have passed on something special and meaningful to people who understand the power of making great decisions.

I hope to see you there!

Great job Bishop Jakes, Keep up your great works. I thank God that we are all under the Blood.

The Blood
For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the alter to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that makes an atonement for your souls. God tells us in His word that He has ordained that it is the shed blood of the innocent that Atones for our sins. The word atonement means to cover, or conceal, allowing the sinner to continue to follow and approach a Holy God. In the old Testament the High Priest went before God once a year with the blood of an lamb to make atonement for the sins of the Israelites, God’s chosen people. That atonement covered their sins for a whole year. Though this act of atonement was ordained by God, it did not prevent God’s wrath from falling upon the Israelites when they committed certain sins. There was a time during the wilderness wandering of the Israelites when Miriam spoke against Moses and God struck her with leprosy. People speak against God’s prophets today and are allowed to continue in the church.

In the Old Testament Achan coveted and stole some of the accursed spoil of the people of Ai and God told Joshua to stone him and his family. Today people covet and steal from God’s people and live. So we can see from these two examples that the atoning blood though ordained by God did not stop or prevent the wrath of God from falling on the sinner. God’s wrath crossed the blood. Yet today people commit the same sins and are spared. Why? Because we are protected by another blood, the blood of Jesus Christ. The blood of the animals of the Old Testament only covered the sins of the people, but the blood of Jesus Christ washes us from our sins and satisfies God’s righteous indignations and wrath. The blood of Jesus Christ God’s Son cleans us from all sin.

The word of God tells us that: “ being justified{ made right with God} through Jesus’ blood, we shall be saved from wrath{ God’s wrath} through Christ.” My friend it is because of the blood of Jesus Christ that we live to see another day, for all have sinned and came short of the glory of God. In Jesus we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. But it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sin. On the hand, Jesus has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. Jesus’ blood does more than cover my sins, it takes away my sins. The bible goes on to say that “ by Jesus’ one offering on the cross on my behalf, He has perfected forever them that are sanctified, God cannot find a fault with me. People sometimes find fault with me, but because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ offered for me, God does not find any fault in me, I am perfected in Christ.

For Christ is not entered into the holy place made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us. Not only did Jesus shed His blood for us, but He is now in heaven standing before God interceding on our behalf. What can wash me whiter than snow? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Are you under the Blood?

..Can't wait to read this one.  I was given "Woman, thou art loosed" by a friend when I left my abusive husband a year ago.  I had been delivered from breast cancer, and now from abuse.  God is and has been so good in all our lives.  I wonder if you realize how many invisible folks you speak to.  By invisible, I mean that feel invisible.   I love God with all my heart, and for years I felt invisible to people..that they couldn't see me dying in my mess.  And God has sent me messages thru you so many times....and getting that word kept me alive.  It is a gr8 honor to be able to sit here and send a message to you....only in this time is this possible.  The message you gave about the silent cries,  screaming inside and no one hears.  That was powerful.  God bless you man of God...
