my friend steve died last night...
dea just called and told me this morning...
i had known steve for over 30 years...
he is one of the ancient seers...
i saw him about a year ago...
it was the first time in more than a decade...
but it was like meeting again one of the elders in the tribe...
conversations began where they left off but soon made up for lost time and completely bypassed the future!
ah, i live for such times!
heart attack -- it was a heart attack and he was about 60 --
i've been feeling a lot of pressure on the heart lately...
so i just want to say this:
i need you immortals to stick around!
i know you all feel that you were born in the wrong place at the wrong time...
i know you all feel like fish out of water on this planet...
-- a sperm whale beached itself on shore today --
but we all need each other to hang in there for a while longer....

look, evolution is natural selection which is survival...
nature is evolving to survive
and pretty soon nature will evolve to survive its own death individually
it's only a matter of time ~

death teaches us that life is precious ~
but it also robs us of our memory and our relationships
we spend a lot of time working on these relationships during a lifetime
and it's cruel to see them robbed from us... snatched by death...
snatched by immortality -- the true origin of life --
if we didn't survive death then god would have no sense of humor!
none of this would ever be funny.
it's only bearable because  -- deep down -- we know we survive it ~

i'll meet steve again...
in the meantime, i'll keep talking to him in this lifetime...
-- and my friends can think i'm a madman for talking to a ghost! --
but nothing ever dies, so i'm just talking to the memories of each of you that i cherish ~

until this war is over...
let your heartbeat count the time
do not give into attacks of hopelessness and despair
things are moving much faster than we all are aware ~
