Angus
and I would often meet for a brew around 10.30 and hold strategic
meetings, as Freddy Fender came into our lives and it was off to visit
all the music shops in the region, playing as many amps, guitars, and
pedals we could get our hands on; Angus was forever searching for the
perfect Stratocaster tone. Then it was back to base camp to talk
further on even more important topics like tone, twang, sustain, Jimi,
and when we could next see The Kings of Leon.
A
most vivid and lasting image of really gusto is from a recent Kings of
Leon gig. Those who were there will remember it well, Angus
dramatically cast aside his wheel chair as if in the midst of a rock ‘n
roll miracle, after which throughout the whole 2 hour show Angus took
hold of the balcony rail and rocked, only stopping to swig his beer!
It was pure, raw, high octane Angusto!
‘No imposters..........everyone on board to the end of the line!’
