Hello again. I'm here to tell you about an event there's every chance in the world you haven't heard of and that you'd thank me for telling you about.
Remember the days when Indie was short for independent? When it suggested that a band is doing their own thing and not trying to sound like other bands around? And that their main concern was not making it quickly so they can have their faces smeared all over The Sun's front page having one too many with a famous model and ending up vomiting on the floor outside some posh nightclub in Mayfair?
Well, maybe those days never existed and it was only me being young and naive but still there are times when you happen to come across something that is very pure and beautiful. Rough Beats Festival is one of these things. It could possibly claim to be the smallest rock festival taking place in the UK. Which means you will probably not know any of the bands playing unless you make sure to check them out on myspace beforehand. It also means-no big Coca-Cola/carling/O2/youknowwhatimean signs, no huge queues to the toilets and a hell of a lot of fun!
Tens of bands playing over 3 days on the 31st of August till the 2nd of September in a farm in Yorkshire, loads of camping space and a great feel of something that's really happening will welcome you as you enter the festival. We did it last year and it was great. This year it looks like it's going to be even better. And, oh yeah-we're playing there!
So-Whad'yasay? It's going to be a great weekend so don't miss it!
You can check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/roughbeatsfestival for further information. We'll see you there!
