We here at Ugly Stick HQ can hardly contain ourselves! Burnside, the enigmatic and reclusive producer of our earliest records, has been found alive dwelling in an abandoned mine in the southwestern US. More on this great news from the website Albuquerque PM! :
While most experts and music industry insiders believed there was no way the delicate engineer/producer could have survived the horrible musical drought that was the late 90s (see Nickelback) Arizona State Police now confirm that rescuers were able to discover his lair and draw him out with the promise of listening to some unreleased Beatles studio demos.
Burnside appeared confused and was not able to give a comment to the assembled local TV media but the AP reports that he was in possession three packs of Cambridge brand cigarettes and the original masters of the 1992 Ugly Stick album “Shaved” (Bluehouse Records). The discovery ends years of speculation in the blogisphere and 6 separate lawsuits filed against the band by their label, Hovercraft.
The label, which had apparently filed the lawsuits amidst growing concern that the band would not be able to provide the “Shaved” masters for a lucrative reissue slated for 2009, refused to comment on their legal action and released a bland and poorly written statement that the re-release was “on schedule”.
