1. The inspiration for your band/ project is quite apparent. It is the hatred which most of us have buried deep inside. What was the last thing that finally triggered all of your hate to make you explode & how did you find the people worthy of helping you channel your hatred through music? There has been no final trigger, if that had happened I would have murdered many people and then taken my own life without a shadow of a doubt. I would have unleashed and vented in the most unbridled and purest of Satanic reactions, mass murder then suicide, the ultimate sacrifice and praise to SATAN FATHER.
My own selfishness and weakness has held me back from giving this praise, I have had a deep misanthropy for most of my life now and I just can’t explode enough or express my hatred enough for people, in my day to day life or in my music. I am disgusted to the core by their ways, shape, manner and in everyway they perform their meaningless pathetic daily chores.
What made me put Artisian together was, I was fed up being in other bands that didn’t want to go the whole way, that didn’t have their priorities straight. You either are something or your not, no in between, this means in all things, in religion, being a musician or in any endeavour you under take. So I set Artisian up as a 1 piece and I played many live shows like this. It was very liberating and allowed me to express truly and say what I wanted to say and do the things I wanted to do, without being hindered by some fool who had priorities elsewhere.
The people I have in the band changed many times, SATAN FATHER brought us together and will ultimately take us apart, and I will give anyone a chance who says they have the grit to be in the band if I need a position filled, it's keeping their position that’s hard for them and me. Too many have come through the door shouting "HAIL SATAN! I give this project my skills, time and beliefs" but true to human form they fail, they fail me, they fail themselves and they fail SATAN FATHER, ultimately they are rubbish and therefore discarded like so.
2. You obviously stay within the original, traditional boundaries of black metal, but where have you differed & how?
Extreme music is the only outlet for me. Black metal happens to be, not just my favourite genre but the style that I play and when I write. That’s what comes out but I will not limit myself or not do certain things, I do this my way, so if I want to put in death metal riffs and vocals, or a grindcore influenced riff, that’s exactly what I’ll do. I want to create the most aggressive, raw and brutal black metal possible, I want to break the music through the PA and make the people present want to kill each other and then, themselves. I want to use the music to rape them with the spirit and evil of SATAN FATHER and make them understand how much I hate everyone of you in His unholy name.
3. You released your first album through ‘Grind Ethic Records’, only to sign up to ‘Corpro’ shortly afterwards. Was this due to the fact they offered you worldwide release or due to disagreements with the previous record company?
Grindethic are a great label, they have their human failings, but they are totally on it when it comes to running a label and releasing music they connect with, however, Copro offered to re-release it on a bigger scale, so I added an extra track and let them re release it. The 2nd release was with Grindethic, so obviously we had no disagreements with them.
4.Was it your choice to tour with Gorgoroth a second time round due to the fact you share the same beliefs & Gorgoroth have now discarded the ‘whiners & complainers’, they have made the path for you to play to crowds other than the ‘flock mentality’ that you both speak of?
It’s always an honour to play with Gorgoroth, I have been a big fan since the ‘Pentagram’ album, and they are a solid band to tour with. Gaahl and King are great musicians and we do see eye to eye. It’s lucky for Artisian to play to a good crowd that want to see proper Black metal.
5. Satanism is expressed in many ways, Gorgoroth look to the naturalistic side, whereas you take a different approach. Where is it that you find your points both joining & colliding with that of Gorgoroths’. Also, which other ways do you channel your religion besides through your music?
We are two separate bands and I cant really say where we join or collide musically, I have my way of presenting my music, Gaahl and King have their way, it fits on a bill together and people respond well and give us support.
I channel my religion into my everyday life and everything I do.
We look forward to hearing from you, next time you are touring in the UK be sure to let us know. We will post your interview as soon as you send it back. Cheers.
