the ARTISIAN interview:
This is a death/ black metal band hailing from the Queenland UK! They
already played along with Gorgoroth, Marduk, Mayhem just to name a few.
Glad I was about to interview them. Here you go!
'A-C-Z': - 1.) Hellish greetings to Artisian! What are the latest
updates with your band? You mentioned that your 4th album will be out
soon. What are the added technicalities you made or change with your
music?
- The music has developed a LOT, we have toured a lot, I have
changed my line up to get the exact musicians I wanted, and finally got
the band to work the way I want it too, also my own playing has got
better, just due to practice etc, the riffs are twice as fast, twice as
dark, but with even more dynamics, The band is built totally on
misanthropy and my hated and rage for the human race, which is why it’s
a black metal band with grindcore influence and a very raw edge, only
so many people get it. But the 4th album on Sworn records will be call
‘A PLAGUE ON ALL YOUR HOUSES’ we will record in Feb and have it
released in Summer 09
'A-C-Z': - 2.) Your band started only last June ’04 and from then
on, you were able to play with great bands like Gorgoroth, Mayhem,
Marduk, Enthroned, Napalm Death and the list goes on ( now I’m fucking
jealous). How were you able to get such great gigs with them? Are there
a lot of Black and Death metal bands in ..Southampton..?
- Hardwork and a through our booker who works for our label.
- There are very few extreme metal bands in Southampton and
certainly no black metal bands, nothing that’s active or worth talking
about, In fact, I think about it and the only shit you get in
Southampton is the emo shit that is currently littering the music
scene, they have no real hatred, no real darkness, certainly no muscle,
rage or spirit. It’s all about spending time on your hair, being fake
and is totally disgusting.
'A-C-Z': - 3.) Besides our Satan Father as your influence, do you
have “human or mortal” person (or thing) that had influence you as an
individual or musician? Do you listen to other genre of music?
- SATAN FATHER, Misanthropy, hatred, rage, aggression and violence. You ask what other music I am inspired by
- Black Metal obviously.
- Hardcore e.g. Minor Threat, Madball and Rollins.
- Brutal death/grind metal e.g. Devourment, deeds of flesh and Napalm Death
- I like extreme music, that is honest in its rage and anger,
hatred and has a true pulse and gives off heat, that is channeled,
calculated, but also I like chaos in rage and anger, but I prefer the
controlled, deliberate type.
'A-C-Z': - 4.) Who usually writes the lyrics? Have you ever thought
of adding another member of the band like percussionist, organist, etc?
- I write the lyrics, only, and will only ever be the one to
do that, I haven’t worked with anyone enraged and angry enough to
impress me enough to allow that to happen, also Artisian is mine, I set
it up, I am the servant of this Satanic machine of hatred and I know
what it wants to say alone.
- Certainly not!!
'A-C-Z': - 5.) Tell us about your Satanic lifestyle. Do you any rituals before performing or when on stage?
- I do, but, this is a private matter, I cant answer this, sorry.
'A-C-Z': - 6.) Your music transpires from the dark view of society,
melancholy, hypocrite politics, man-religion, and so on. Do you think
that there’s no salvation for humanity? I like the lines in your
profile (whoever said this) that “we came into the world alone, we will
leave alone” You said it like a true Satanist, hell ya.
- The only salvation for man is at the end of a knife, they
have gone too far and have no respect for the earth. They were given an
opportunity to do something and they went on in and raped it. I said
“we came into the world alone, we will leave alone” once you realize
you are on your own and have no one else to truly rely on you may feel
a little better about this shit hole we wallow in created by our filthy
forefathers and current guttural peers. Every one and every thing you
love or hold close will end, die or walk away from you. Its one of the
very few things you can actually be sure of.
'A-C-Z': - 7.) I am really sadden in how people are ignorant or see
Satanism as resentful in this society. Why do you think Christianity or
any other religion manipulates the mind of people that Satanism is
evil?
- The truth is that organized religion is the true evil in actual
fact, for example look at Palestine, it has been at war for ever, since
the Jews arrived with Moses and tried to force Judaism, since the
crusaders arrived and tried to ram Christianity down the throats of the
locals (and then the Pope decided to kill the crusaders as they got to
much power) and now Islam is trying convert or kill everyone. Satanism
is about doing your own thing, and fuck everyone else, not organizing
an army and force feeding your doctrines on individuals. I digress, but
would like to state, that Paganism wasn’t ever a threat, and the
Catholic church systematically destroyed its culture and murdered its
people to simply gain mind control, a lot like communism in the former
USSR, they wanted the people uneducated, unquestioning and totally
suppressed. And by saying anything Pagan was unholy and evil; they
frightened people in believing it was something it wasn’t. Satanism is
a pretty new thing Anton le Vay etc. Our roots and beliefs are closer
to devil worship. But I do get a lot of the Satanic Churches doctrines
and ideals.
'A-C-Z': - 8.) Do you really believe that Black metal started in
..Norway.. and not somewhere else like ..Greece.. or ....Romania....?
Is it really applicable that once a band plays Black metal, one should
always be Satanic?
- Well Black Sabbath were pretty Satanic back in the 70’s, I personally
cant stand the band, but listen to vol 1 its pretty black for its day,
the sound has developed, and the media jumped on the Norwegian thing to
sell there shitty mags and papers when someone killed another guy and
someone burnt a church down, so fucking what, im sure we all know an
alcoholic that at least tried to burn a building down, or some fool
that ended there own social freedom from killing some other equally
unimportant person. Black metal has roots in metal, punk and allsorts,
and each black metal band has its own take on the presentation, even if
it’s within certain parameters. I lot of good black metal bands have
come from there, but I doubt they fundamentally created it. Id need to
research it a lot more too REALLY answer that. Its too easy to talk
about Dark Throne and Burzum, I d really need to look much more deeply
to answer you properly, sorry.
- I think you can play what the fuck you want, and have whatever
religion and beliefs, music is about freedom and no constraints, or
working within the constrains you set yourself.
'A-C-Z': - 9.) If Artisian music can be painted, what will be the outcome?
- a massive oil painting, in thick red paint, depicting the savage
murder and brutal rape of an innocent baby, part modern/ part pre
Raphaelite, this is what I see people have done to the world and Mother
nature.
'A-C-Z': - 10.) You told me that you had toured 16 countries
already. Which of these places that you never expect would have a great
crowd? Any plans going to South East Asian countries like
..Philippines.. or ..Middle East.. like UAE?
- if the booker offers us a tour there, we will go. If we are offered a
gig there, we will go. If anyone wants us and invites us. We will come.
Just ask!
'A-C-Z': - 11.) Who would you rather sacrifice: George Bush, the Pope, or Queen B?
- Now your just DELIBERATLY making things difficult aren’t you!!!!!
FUCK IT lets do the Pope. Bush is out of office and so fucking thick he
would never learn anything, no one would give a shit if the queen
parasite got wasted, which leaves us the Pope, the Catholics have a lot
of blood on their hands, since they were on the go 1500years or so
before America even existed, but then they stole that land from the
natives, but the queen is related to the scum that rammed their shitty
empire on everyone, bugger it, do the pope. Let’s make him a martyr in
the name of SATAN FATHER; we will at least sell some records!!
'A-C-Z': - 12.)What is Artisian’s plans in the blurry future? Will you
still bring justice to this metal scene within 5yrs or more?
- to continue as I am.
