Media "Creates" News.  It's sad, but true.  They do have that power over our lives, and they oftentimes use that power in ways that are not good for the American people, or the world for that matter.

William Randolph Hearst, one of the biggest and most known of media moguls, was himself a Democrat. Hearst made his fortune by, not only "creating" the news but also by helping to create a war, just like so much of the media did while the Bush/Cheney administration tried to make a case for invading Iraq. Hearst knew that war would sell newspapers, so he helped start the Spanish-American war in 1898 by creating "news".

In 1927, in another attempt at starting yet another war, the Hearst
newspapers printed unchecked, forged documents charging that the
Mexican government had paid several U.S. senators more than $1
million to support a Central American plot to wage war against the
United States. But, President Coolidge thwarted Hearst's efforts by
appointing a US ambassador to Mexico and improved relations with
Latin America.

And, if starting wars isn't enough to prove how a media mogul can create news, then how about inspiring someone to assassinate the President of the United States of America? Yep, William Randolph Hearst (owner of Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, Town and Country, Harper's Bazaar, New York Daily Mirror, New York Daily News, International News Service, King Features Syndicate, Los Angeles Examiner, The Boston American, The Atlanta Georgian, The Chicago Examiner, The Detroit Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Washington Times, Washington Herald, and his flagship the San Francisco Examiner) printed an article that sensationalized the hypothetical assassination of the President. A short time later, President William McKinley was shot and killed by an anarchist, and Hearst was given credit for inspiring this. Talk about "CREATING NEWS", Hearst and his organization took this to a level that this country had never seen before.

The political activities of todays Mainstream Media is no different than it was during Hearst's hay days. The un-provoked U.S. invasion of Iraq, and the 2008 election process is proof of that.

The moral of this story is simple...DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR ABOUT OR READ ABOUT!
