Clarification on why we approved the "Go Eagles" comment on our page, when the Eagles are not a New Jersey team and are playing against the Giants - a New Jersey team. First - the person is from Philadelphia. Second, and most importantly, although the Giants are a New JERSEY team and have nothing to do with New York - they do not market themselves or show pride in the place they call their home - New Jersey. When the Giants won the Super Bowl last year, they said the win was for New York and the New York fans. Therefore, when it comes to the game on Sunday - AboutNewJersey.com is staying neutral. As a proud New Jersey website, we only support those teams who share our feelings about our state and are proud to call themselves a New Jersey team.
If the Giants marketed them as the NJ Giants, as they should be, we would support them 110%, as we do the proud to be New Jersey Devils. If more New Jerseyans became outraged by the lack of respect the Giants, Jets and Red Bulls give to New Jersey, they may rethink their attitude toward their home state and change their logo to properly reflect where they play. If they want to be a New York team and New Jersey is too beneath them, they should move back across the river. Oh yeah - we forgot, the Jets already tried that and New York sent them back to the Meadowlands with their tails between their legs.
So ask yourself - where do the three Super Bowl trophies the Giants won sit? In New York? Nope - right here in New Jersey at the Meadowlands - the Giants corporate headquarters. So the next time you see them promoting themselves as a New York team, ask yourself - why do they walk all over us - the New Jersey fan? Why do they thumb their nose at us and take us for granted? 75% of their stadium sales are New Jerseyans, not New Yorkers. It's time New Jersey and New Jerseyans said enough is enough with being taken for granted and marginalized.
