He is Bob Harris, I am Benny from Benny and the Jets band. This is the new Bargain Hunter Magazine. Bob it is nice to see you here. With this new edition, new format of the Bargain Hunter, I guess we can now call it a magazine.

I would think most people know you have promoted several entertainment papers over the years. All the way back to the Teen News in the 60's when you met the Rolling Stones. Plenty has happened since then. You got back in touch with Mick Jagger and the band, got them to autograph that photo. You got my band to write and record as song about that meeting, where Mick proclaimed you the "Oldest Rolling Stone Fan. Now I understand that you and I are in the new French movie about Rolling Stone Fans titled "Vers L' Olympe" or "Towards the Olympia" Dedicated to Rolling Stones Fans around the world. For more information on the movie, to see the trailer, or to hear the song, you can go to www.myspace.com/stonephilfiction .
(Should take you to the movie trailer)

And if that is not enough, you and co-author, J. Douglas Peters, are writing a book titled "Motor City Rock and Roll: The 1960s and 1970s" published by Arcadia Press. This historical picture book will have approximately 200 photographs coupled with fact-based captions that will make this book a must read for casual and serious fans alike.

I understand this book will have a lot of the people you have worked with over the years including The Grand Funk Railroad, Sonny and Cher, Del Shannon, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Gino Washington, Jackie Wilson, Hank Ballard, Spyder Turner, Benny and the Jets, Iggy, Bob Seger, Alice Cooper, The MC5, Jamie Coe, Salem Witchcraft, The Four Seasons, Herman's Hermits, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Beach Boys, James Brown, The Four Tops, The Jackson 5, The Larados/The Reflections, Ted Nugent, Jeff and the Atlantics, Shades of Blue, The Dee Jays, The Nobelmen, and just about every other Who's Who of Motor City Rock and Roll.

OK, here we go, Bob is saying on with the show. Or in this case the column. Good to see Buck's Bar in this issue. Seems to me Buck's is our oldest advertiser? Great place for NASCAR, all the sports games on BIG TV, a great burger and a game of pool. Located on Warren Avenue just east of Telegraph Road.

Good to see our friends Amantea's on Warren Avenue in Garden City. Full service bar, and fine Italian dinners, for the whole family. We have an ad for Plato's Coney on Ford Road in Canton. You know Bob loves a good Coney. The Giant System on Van Born east of Telegraph. The Giant is open 24-7-365 and is where Gino the Mailman, John T, and I, do the late night coffee now days. I also think Jerry the owner is celebrating a Birthday?

Taylor Town Center on Ecorse east of Telegraph is still the place to be. John T, got his hair cut there the otherday. Wendell the ICP- Juggalo fan when to a wrestling match there. Live bands, lots of collectibles, books, dolls, tools, nick knacks, T-shirts, hats, jewlery, Lazar lights, and hard to find things all under one roof.

Tony Harris who sometimes plays his harmonica with the Eddy King band say's he is excited we now have Kaiya writing a Teen Column in the magazine. Also in the Rolling Stone movie that is Tony playing the harmonica not Mick Jagger. True.

Benny and the Jets Band still playing every Tuesday at the Wayne Road Pub on Wayne Road in Westland. (Yes, 18 years at that gig that has to be a guinness world record.) Every Wednesday 5 till 7p.m. I do the Doctor Doo Wop Radio show on 1460 am heard round the world via www.wpon.com. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, we have been at the world famous Thunderbowl on Allen Road east of Southfield. I think Thunderbowl is the largest bowling center in American? Some of you may remember Bowling for Dollars TV show broadcast there in the 1960s? Now days they not only have league and open bowling, but billiards, Karaoke, live music concerts, and home to the All-Star Comedy Cub. Mention this column and get in FREE.

For more information, to contact Benny, to hire the band (or Benny as a solo) call the 24 hour hot line at 313 730 1627 via e-mail benejets@aol.com and see the web site www.bennyandthejets.com

Ps ... the Wednesday WPON.COM radio show will be LIVE every Wednesday at NAPA Auto and the Overtyme Saloon 4200 Dixy Hwy west of Telegraph in Waterford ... We are promoting a HUGE car show!
So pass the word ..

Also JR's on Merriman and Palmer in Westland asked me to pass the word
Sunday June 21 they are having a meet and greet with Martha Reeves (of the Vandells) ...
promoting her new book

Did I mention I am starting a (Benny & Jets) bowling team?
Thursdays ( 7 till 9pm)
short summer league at the Thunderbowl
I need a couple of people for MY team .....

My sports radio friend JT the Brick did win that best sports host in American contest. Looks like he is coming to Detroit May 8, 9, and 10 ... Hopefully we will through some kind of event. JT is looking for bands music for his myspace Monday radio show ... go to his site, see the blog, he will play you on national radio .....www.myspace.com/jtthebrick

Johni Dee from the old Mystery Train Band came by the Wayne Road Pub Tuesday. We reminisced about a lot of the old bands. Bill Reiser, Jamie Coe, Jack Rainwater, Randy Sea, 4th Chapter, Little Rubin, Paul Webb, Wally Jackson, Mitch Ryder, Salem Witchcraft and the Sunday Funnies. Johni say's Ross the drummer from the Funnies has been playing in the Silver Canyon band working with Justine Blazer. Mz. Blazer my be looking at a national break out soon. I had to go to Gino the Mailman's myspace to find out how to spell Justine Blazer's name. She is in his top 10 www.myspace.com/ginothemailman .

This is cool stuff. Stones took American Blues and gave it a jolt of adrenaline, changing music forever.
