We are always looking for cool bands to play Metal Up Your Tap so please feel free to contact us through MySpace or e-mail us at metalupyourtap@gmail.com. We also want diverse lineups, meaning we're open to all kinds of metal and heavy rock be it classic, death, stoner, black . . . as long as it's good.
A few things requirenments and/or things to consider about Metal Up Your Tap and playing the show:
1. Our gracious host, Red Line Tap, is a
strictly 21+ venue. That means performers as well.
2. Having a
Chicago draw will help you get on a MUYT bill in most circumstances, though we're certainly open to working with out of town/state bands and Chicago-based groups who want to bring in out-of-town acts.
3.
You need to promote beyond just putting the date on your MySpage page. Most bands (again, this can vary) will be paid your door. Cover for MUYT is $5 and ALL that money goes back to the bands. So it only makes sense for you to promote the show and try to make yourself as much money as you can. We
want you to make money and have a great fucking time with us. In most cases, we'll even provide with you with a bad-ass, custom poster (and web-friendly model for your online promotional needs) for that month's gig; all you have to do is get some copies made, hang that thing up, and spread the word.
4. We pull our promotion load as well.
RLT and MUYT advertise in various Chicagoland publications (including The Onion and Illinois Entertainer) as well as pounding the pavement hanging posters and dishing handouts.
5. Unless Slayer calls, please
don't book city gigs in the month leading up to your MUYT appearance. It does you no good and it does us no good. Playing one gig a month in front of 50 of your fans is better than playing five in front of 10. don't ya think? If you e-mail us asking to get on a particular month's bill and you have two shows in the city and two in the burbs in the same month, we're gonna say no. Sorry.
If this shit works for you, and you slay, by all means, let's work together!
