With the honeymoon in full swing, he's off to a great start.

"Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency."

He is curbing the role of lobbyists.

Gitmo is one day closer to closure.

The ban on federal funding of embryonic stem cell research has been lifted.

White House employees with salaries over $100,000 have had their salaries frozen.

There's more, but you get the picture.  Eight years of Bush can't be shaved off in one day.

From what Ive been reading it looks like BS organizations that were getting funding under Bush know their days are numbered and are now begging to keep some of it.

"The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. Those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account — to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.
"

There is a lot of restoration to be done.
