Current mood: sleepy Category: Music
As you can see, I've completely revamped my music section. I did this for a number of reasons. Chief among these is the fact that several new projects are afoot, including the completion and imminent release of Songbook Volume 3 and my having commenced recording of all ten or so songs written for the Okay project back in 2002 but that were never recorded. "The Spring Day," featured here, is part of this project. This particular song turned out especially well, so I felt it merited inclusion on the site. It features lyrics by Anthony Bowman and music by yours truly. Yes, the song's similarities with Til Tuesday's "Will She Just Fall Down" are acknowledged and intentional. Also, you may notice that for the first time ever, no two songs currently featured on the myspace are on the same album. In addition to "The Spring Day" for the Okay Songbook, I selected "Error in Judgment" to represent the Eric Condon Songbook project because, as is the case with "The Spring Day," the song turned out well by my estimation and it has never been heard before by anyone, ever, besides myself. Therefore, in essence it is a new song, although it was actually written in October 2001. Much like NBC summer reruns, if you missed it the first time, it's new to you. Some may be surprised to see that Humored's lead-off single, "I Don't Need You," has been dropped from the set list. This is owing to a number of factors, not least of which being the fact that I was just plain sick of hearing those opening chords every time I visited this page, even after randomizing the song play. Also, after 170 plays, I felt the song had served its purpose. Humored isn't new anymore, and so to represent it, rather than advertising it with the single, I felt I'd instead showcase what I feel to be its strongest track (as well as probably the best thing I've ever written), "I'm Not In Love With You." I hope you enjoy this towering 8-minute behemoth of a folk song, because it's currently the best thing to my ears that I have to offer you. Hopefully that will change with my next album. Finally, I've decided to take advantage of this whole internet thing and do something really internet-y, which is feature a song on my website that isn't available anywhere else. Thus, the demo of "Fuck You" which you now have to feast your ears upon. It's not much different than the version you hear on Songbook Volume 3, but it has its own charm, and I hope you like it, since its available for the first (and maybe last) time here, barring possible inclusion on the upcoming FCR Family Album. I hope everyone likes the new stuff. Comments and the like would of course be appreciated, to let me know "if you like what you heard or...weren't too impressed."
