BiographyBorn in Lander, Wyoming, singer/songwriter
Tyler Stenson (26), considers himself a cowboy. Now, Portland based, he writes of those days as if a Midwestern Poet and shouts songs on stage from a rickety wooden step-ladder. Surrounding him are four members that elevate the sound through their diverse musical styles, backgrounds and ability to extract a song's simple emotion. The group is blending classic folk compositions, timeless rock n roll melody and orchestral drama and the sound is putting lumps in throats. Lander openly welcomes the claimed signature of an "understated elegance."
Since the group formed in 2005, Lander has played at the Nike Campus for Lance Armstrong and his Foundation and performed for the United Way Portland. In 2006 the group completed their successful album orange chrome sky and officially released it to a sold out crowd at the Doug Fir Lounge PDX. Soon after, Lander was featured as the KINK FM 102 Local Spotlight and boasted multiple songs in rotation on the acoustic morning sunrise. The Word has spread steadily and shows a train of followers at each performance.
Atop these achievements, singer/songwriter Tyler Stenson was recently named the Portland Songwriters Association Performing Songwriter of the Year for 2006. With this decoration and a new album under their belts, Lander expects to burst open and achieve great things through song in 2007.
