Little Johnny

You keep smiling
even though you know that something's wrong
You are dancing in the sunlight
but you've caused all that's going on

How can you smile? How can you laugh?
There's a little boy in pain
How can you dance? How can you jump?
Can't you see the bloodstains?

Silent tears stream down his cheeks
while mama tries to calm down her little guy
She says:"baby please don't cry
Mama's here, and you'll be alright"
But little Johnny's can't stop crying
It hurts so much, he thinks he's dying.

Everyone's quiet and everyone's shocked
How could this have happened, and why?
Nobody understands and no one knows
But in the meantime they are all just standing by.

The doctor comes and takes Johnny in
he speaks careful words and lays him down
He strokes Johnny's head and tells him he's brave
He says:"Johnny, trust me, you'll be safe."

But..
Silent tears stream down his cheeks
while mama tries to calm down her little guy
She says:"baby please don't cry
Mama's here, and you'll be alright"
But little Johnny's can't stop crying
It hurts so much, he thinks he's dying.

Johnny then opens his eyes
and the tears have stopped
And then he realizes
he's in a hospital bed.

The blood has gone, the pain has too
Johnny feels better but knows it was close
Why did that man hurt him so bad
Johnny cries 'cause he doesn't understand.

Now..
Silent tears stream down his cheeks
and mama gets up to calm down her little guy
She says:"baby please don't cry
Mama's here, and you'll be alright"
Then little Johnny's stops his crying
Because he knows that he won't be dying.
