FUCK THE SYSTEM
The system(some prefer to call it a ’situation’) that has left us in such a helpless, hopeless state may have seen the economy, health, education and social structure of our community crumble to such a wreck. I am not worried about the system-let the damn thing fall. I’m more worried about how we are trying to save it. The beast has certainly taken control of our minds. We continue to feed it as it continues to devour us. Education, for example, was designed to make us useful in generating wealth for capitalists and less so in developing our own communities. So let that shit burn. But rather than seek alternatives to the system we are caught up in debates of how best to save it. This is because education as it stands/falls to this day is not about what we know-it’s about what we have been taught. The biggest lesson drilled into our heads by school is “respect the authorities” which also means respect the system. We have been domesticated into seeing things the way Babylon sees them even if we are at the receiving end. We can easily blame the authorities because they are the ones in control of the system, right? But who do we blame for giving these mere mortals the power of gods? Who do we blame for the domestication of our minds which leads to the stifling of our creativeness and scares us away from suggesting-let alone considering another way of doing things? We have made our world seem so complicated by leaving all the important decisions to some expert who is said to know what is best for us. This expert has been given the mandate to design the destiny of the people. Everything is up to him. But the truth is we left it up to him ourselves because he is the author of the system. We are just his subjects. We gave him power to call the shots. We are waiting for his authority to move us from the mess we are in. we are under the instruction of a master who has no interest in our capability and capacity to organize ourselves. We don’t even know what the community thinks because it belongs to that power we call the state. The right to meet as families of the community does not belong to us. We have to seek permission from the state police or risk being arrested. Arrested for what, really? For taking control of our own lives. Therefore we wait for change. And continue to wait until we are given the green card by the Authority or risk being labeled rogue elements of society. In comes the opposition offering us freedom and a better life if only we give them power, let them be the authority. They come to us and ask us to get our power back from the government and then after that give the power up to them. Jah people beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing. Those who only want to use you to gain their position and then keep you down. Those who promise to do something for you but never really say you can do it for yourselves. Those who offer you comfort by telling you are not responsible for your bondage are likely to tell you, when the chains are off, that you are not responsible for your freedom. This order is like the digestive system: all it’s ever going to offer your ass is shit. Ask me- I did go to their school…I even got an A in history. But if there is anything I learnt from Babylon it is that you should never let them school you about how to live your life. We must figure it out by ourselves and share our ideas with the community while learning from everyday people who deal with everyday situations.
