Change.
Zimbabweans want change. And they want it now. Everybody is searching for change, from the rich suburbs to the poor townships. Change is on everyone’s lips. Preferably in US dollars and rands, if not then Botswana pulas will do. Since the economy became dollarised Zimbabwe’s new crisis is that shops don’t have enough change for the customers. So we walk around shops doing arithmetic in our heads to make sure that what we buy comes to exactly ten dollars. If not then you are forced to buy what-you-don’t-want. Or you are given some chewing gum and a chocolate as your ‘change’. So while our alleged leaders negotiate to fail we stand in shop queues scheming how we can finally get change
