Myspace has like 500 genre classification options but stuff like "Noise" and "No Wave" aren't on there (but "Crunk" and "Ghettotronicica" or some bullshit is).  So hmm.

I want to let everyone know right now that we aren't egrind. We've had elements of egrind in our music, but I haven't really identified with that genre in forever. Almost all the bands just ripped off Kindergarten Hazing Ritual, Gigantic Brain, Hara Kari Kitty, or us anyway. Haha.  Any band that claims to be egrind without a bit of humor attached to that statement is... a band not worth checking out!  But, in all seriousness, egrind fans and message board peeps are the coolest people I've met, and there are some amazing people in that scene (and also some huge lying idiotic assholes -- you know who you are), so fuck any haters. I'm not a hater, I just don't think we can be called egrind anymore..

So, anyway, I don't really know if there's a way to classify us or why you'd want to try. But a friend said to me: "progressive noise". I like that.  Fuck ya.

I think you still have some elements of egrind still in there or at least cybergrind. you have a lot of elements so "progressive noise" works pretty well. tease the skeleton rocks.

I think there might be elements as far as "fast songs" and "a drum machine" but that's about it.. I just don't want to be associated with that scene at all, most of those bands are lame.. but thank you for the tease the skeleton complimenting.. hopefully, it'll be released soon and people can buy it wheeeee..

I have always wanted to post a blog explaining how I'm not egrind but no one would listen and it'd look like some sort of helpless floundering guilty plea since all they ever hear is the parts with the blast beats... whatever

Honestly... if "grime", italian pop, dutch pop, chinese traditional, electrocacoustic and "melo-dramatic popular music" are going to be considered genres, I think that noise, no-wave, egrind, chiptune, power violence, zydeco, and a host of other things should get thrown in their too.

I DEMAND A RECOUNT

p.s. what the fuck is this kudos system we have going here and why can I only issue two per journal.

I will give you "1 Kudos" because while having two delicious candy bars is joyous, I think that a humorous grammatical error that literally billions of people are exposed to daily and no one of the god knows how many people working for myspace, a website purchased by the biggest media corporation in the country has ever corrected is much more joyous.

Yea, the genre thing on myspace has always pissed me off. They should just allow you to put whatever the fuck you want, rather than choosing from a very short list.

I mean, EMOTRONIC? WHAT THE FUCK? And they have "trance" listed twice, and then there's fucking Zouk. The people that wrote that list must have spent about 5 minutes coming up with the concept, and no one has really changed it.

I actually find it very reassuring that "Noise" and "No-Wave" are still not genre options. I guess this means they are still legit underground styles.

I don't know about the entire Scissor Shock oeuvre but "Tease the Skeleton" sounds a little like a digital Fat Worm of Error. Or a Caroliner from the future instead of the past. No clue what genre names those bands go by.

I find it's the most fun to simply invent your own genre names.
