Slai spent his youth between the French Carribean islands namely la Guadeloupe and the suburbs of Paris, this duality explains Slai's musical personality.
He is back with his new album "Caraibes", sensual, eclectic, this lyricist and composer establishes himself with this album as France's prime "Carabean" artist.
His previous albums "Fresh", "Slai" made a name for him essentially in the "community". When he signed "Florilège" his third album with sonybmg he really exploded with massive sales and sold out concerts.
This album is under the sign of openness (with the help of two hot French producers Alias LJ, Luc and Swing), it explores Ragga music, dancehall, zouk and r&b.
Just hours after he came back from shooting his videoclip in Miami, he confided:
"I'm very happy with the way things went in Miami, this city his really symbolic of my music, a place where different cultures collide and an opening to the Carribean".
Open this is exactly how he would define his latest album, it echoes like a leitmotiv, and of course Slai's incomparable style when he writes about love and women.
The relationship between men and women is pivotal for me…it always was, I wanted this album to be more uptempo, an invitation to dance close style.
Soul, Reggaeton, Zouk, hip hop, poetry, psychologie, history, literature, religion, movies…Slai craves anything he can learn from, this great curiosity is what he is really made of.
My inspiration is extremely eclectic, when I lived on my Island in Guadeloupe , I had to cope with the fact that time sometimes passes by very slowly, that's where I became extremely curious about things and contemplative.
I can depending on how I feel be inspired by a cartoon comic, an historical character, a rapperan athlete or a novelist
Utterly seducing with powerful melodies this album should definitely be a hit this summer and for years to come.
