From the writer of this Akira Kurosawa Myspace Page:

Fans and Friends,
For those of you who haven't noticed, Akira Kurosawa died. And I don't mean recently. Damn near a decade ago now. Stop sending me scripts or asking me to produce a movie for you; and then tell me how big of a fan you are. Clearly, you're not.

I'm sure the late Mr. Kurosawa looks down at this myspace page and is very happy with all your nice comments and is also glad that so many people still appriciate his work.

You don't have to be insincere to do films, please don't say you're a huge fan if you've clearly never seen any of his work.

Also, this is simply a tribute page. If you don't like it, delete me and make your own.

I normally wouldn't do this (and I never have had to with any of the other dozen tribute pages I run) but I recieve so much more traffic on this page then on any other; and dumb people get annoying.

Thanks,
Joe

I knew he was dead - I have no desire to make a film - I just appreciate that you have this site and that you love his work as well.

For me, Throne of Blood is one of my all time seminal movies!!
regards
J

You realy got bored of that didn't you?
Well... This is myspace, no filter for folks here...
It is fun to write a comment and to adress to you as Mr Kurosawa, but that is all :). Anyway, when you try and sucseed to make one of the Elvis' fun believe that King IS dead... At that time, you will be able to explain that you are NOT Akira :)

I like your funpage.
Keep on.
Kisses

Ana

No, I could care less if people address me as Akira Kurosawa; infact I'm kind of flattered by all the nice things people say... it's the people who send me things like,

"I hope one day I will have the ultimate pleasure of working with you to create works of art that will make the rest sit up and pay attention.

Please keep in touch and again , thank you"

I got that TODAY. I seem to get one maybe twice a week now. It just upsetting when I think about how trite and disingenuous people in film can be.

Well said...and for the record, I knew he'd died, 1998 to be exact but he's left one hell of a legacy of influential, inspiring films that have pathed the way for further access to Japanese and Foriegn cinema.

Personally, I love Ikiru and Stray Dog, but you can't beat a bit Yojimbo, you really can't. But, hey man, really appreciate your efforts even if there's individuals out there who still think he's alive...like Elvis (not comparing Kurorsawa to him in the slightest.

PEACE- Ryan

Y'know, I did think when I saw this profile (and indeed whenever I see a profile dedicated to a deceased famous person): "Hmmm, I wonder if the guy who runs this page gets messages from complete dolts telling him how much he loves his movies". Thanks for clearing this up for me, but needless to say you also have my sympathies.

I don't mind the people who say, "I love your work." It's the people that say, "When's your next movie? --Will you make my script?"

"I'm still alive and kicking, motha fucka!"---perhaps that confused some fans, but, you're correct, he no longer dwells in a physical vehicle...I have wondered why the AFI never gave him a righteous tribute...

No Imposition,

"Glad to know Mr. Kurosawa isn't managing this profile from the grave."

Good heavens! How and more importantly WHERE are people sending these screenplays? I hope they are NOT cutting and pasting their scripts intom a myspace message. Maybe they should read my blog entry on how to protect their screenplay. It's free advice.

OK I admit I did not know Kurosawa died, but that doesn't mean I am not a fan. What it means is that I am NOT a fanatic. R.I.P and oops My Bad.
