I got a Nintendo DS for my birthday this weekend. It's the first piece of new video game hardware I've owned since my wonderful PS2, and I LOVE it. What a neat little gadget. I was given New Super Mario Bros with it and it is the prefect game. You forget how wonderfully simplistic the Mario franchise is until you start playing it. You only really need two buttons to play it. No need to complicate things. It's great. Plus the mini games included with it really give you something to do when you need a break from stomping on turtles.
I also got Puzzle Quest with it. It's a RPG with a puzzle game engine, which you would automatically assume wouldn't work, but it does. The battles aren't the quick flashes of an FF or Dragon Quest engine, but intricate, hard faught wars waged with colors and sounds. I played this game while waiting in the always horrendous line at the License Beauro to renew my plates and I can feel the envious stares and I was doing more than just standing and looking annoyed. It's a deep game and I can't wait to delve more into it.
In other news, I'm back on track with comic book work. 3 pages done on the Shakespeare comic and am writing Sebastian Climbs A Mountain, which should be fun. The new White Stripes album is all sorts of awesome and if you're a fan of Sublime you should check out Woodbelly, whose song I've put on my profile page.
Alright, kids. Now go out and play.
