"no matter what happened today, as our youth grows and gets the power to vote, hate props like these will be a thing of the past, I know I am on the right side of history and it is only a matter of time when our great country starts doing the right thing. Years ago woman couldn't vote, blacks and whites weren't free to marry peacefully and like those prejudices this to will one day change, equality will ring true for all.

Kudos Shanna. Kudos. I used to report on you and Trav when I worked for TMZ. And in all honesty my initial thoughts about you were not that great. But you have continued to win me over. Much love you beautiful blonde goddess!

Thank you, Shanna. You have made me and the rest of the gay community proud. I'm lucky enough to live in Canada, where same-sex marriage is accepted. After hearing the California Supreme (hardly Supreme) Court's decision this afternoon I was saddened...but not angry. I'm optimistic as you are. I am more passionate than ever to fight this. Although today is a sad day, it is not the end of days. Thank you for not only fighting for us, but fighting with us. I adore you. Thanks, again. -Nate :)

Well unfortunately, the ruling was upheld on banning gay marriages in CA.  The only good news out of this that the 18,000 that had married while it was ok to do so will be considered married.  I cannot believe we still live in a world where are not allowed to marry who we love.  Its a shame.  I am not gay but I do have friends and family that are.  I live in NY and its not legal here either...not fair at all.  I pray for the day that gay marriage is legal. Thanks Shanna for your support in all that you do.

I think it's so sad that we live in a country where we have evolved enough to have elected a black president, but we can't allow gay marriage!  I just want to know what everyone is so afraid of?  What could it possibly hurt to allow two people who honestly love each other to be able to have the same rights and equalities as heterosexuals.  It isn't fair, and it isn't right.  It is even sadder that the one state that is very liberal in nature still won't permit gay marriage.  To those who preach the bible and say that marriage is between man and woman, I want to see where it says that?  You preach that homosexuality is wrong, yet there is a passage in the bible that clearly accepts two daughters laying down with their own father to have sex and procreate.  I'm sorry, but where I come from that's just sick.

Today I sadly say I am ashamed of my own country.  I am ashamed that we deny people basic rights because they are gay, lesbian or transgendered.  I only hope that one day we will realize the error of our ways, and embrace EVERYONE equally.  Could you imagine if this Prop 8 had been designed to deny any non white person the right to marry?  I can only imagine the firestorm THAT would create.

fighting for equality is something we all must take part in. reguardless of race, sexuality, religeon, we should all be about the larger picture, not just what suits us, but whats right for everyone. who are we as a country who are suppost to be moving forward? untill we all can have the same basic rights, i cannot see us moving forward. there has been progress, but we have a long way to go!say 2 parents, both men, or women have a child and something happens to the parent who is either the bio parent, or the adopted. the other parent could lose all rights and be stripped away from the family it has always known. the child could then be losing not just one, but 2 parents. the child would go to the family of the departed, who, in some cases, may not even know the child!and guess where else that child(ren) could end up... the foster care system(which knowing 1st hand is so full of holes). this is only 1 example, of so many reasons we all should be given the same rights as our neighbors.

why if someone disagrees then they are a hater? A better way to sway people to your side of the fence is to be more open minded yourself. You have your beliefs as I do mine but I don't hate anybody.

Exactly! At least I sure hope so. I can't believe that even in today's society and in such a wonderful state such as California that this is still an issue!! It's disapointing, but I do agree that this is only temporary. It's up to us to raise our children to not see color, sex, gender, creed, etc, and to just see people. That is one of my hopes for the future. :)

if they do allow gay marraiges at least they are the ones standing before God explaining Y and the bible clearly states that.so whatever, i guess at least by your words they can have peace on earth....well until death and then they will answer for the choices they have made! I'm sure this comment won't make it that it will be deleted, i noticed , but i spoke my 2 cents worth.

200 years ago I wouldn't have been able to marry my wife who is a Hualapai/Choctaw Native American because I am white and of all the people who want to hate on what they don't understand. Love has no color, race, gender etc. and thats all that needs to be understood. We have 3 beautiful children, who we hope and pray will be among peers who could care less about what kind race they are or who they want to love. We know that whomever they choose to love whether be man or woman, black, native, white, etc. we as parents will still love them unconditionally. What a shame for "christians" or whatever they want to call themselves bring God into their hateful judgements, they need to remember ONLY GOD can JUDGE! How dare they also think they can predict what happens to anybody in the afterlife. I didn't know "christians" were psychic(psycho). Love you Shanna for all that you represent.

May you continue to be blessed.

Hi Bryan. I read what you wrote to Shanna Moakler about prop 8. What you said made me decide to write to you.
I am a gay woman who has been in a healthy and happy relationship for 3 years. I tend to forget that there are people like you out there that aren't gay that have such a positive/supportive attitude on homosexuality. Every corner I turn it is so filled with hate. Just going to the grocery store with my girlfriend and kids we face stares and you can hear the whispers. It is hard sometimes. I can't believe that we as a country have demonstrated this kind of hate for as far back as 200 years ago. What you said to Shanna made me smile.
I just wanted to thank you for your words. And I wanted to thank you for being open-minded.
I hope nothing but the best for your family.
Thank you for taking the time to read my email.

Thank you Shanna for being one of the few to fight for us and with us. I have been in a relationship with my girlfriend for 3 years. We have a beautiful 10 month old baby together and 3 other amazing kids that I brought into our relationship. We are no different than a happy straight couple. We would love nothing more than to complete our family by getting married. I am hopeful that one day we "the gay community" will win this awful battle of hate. What you said was inspiring and gives me hope to keep fighting for who I am. Thank you... much love.

I cant believe California is so behind. Wisconsin just passed a same sex commitment bill or whatever they call it. It is a start. Come on California love is love and people that spend their lives together building their lives and careers should have the right to their partners health benefits and such.

And if someone wants to go against the bible that is their choice! But out of respect for my lord they can't be married under God because it is against him! God Bless Everyone and their happiness!
