“Wise beyond her years” is the phrase many have coined to describe Tempt. Now in her first published work she takes a poetic angle at love, life, relationships and everything in between.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica Tempt came to this country at a young age and hit the ground running. Not allowing herself to be stifled by the many obstacles in her way she was determined to not let life break her. Using her pen as a weapon and sometimes a shield Tempt penned every success, heartbreak and disappointment. Through her hard work she became a college graduate, a contributing part of her community and a member of one of the most prestigious sororities in history. Like her sorors Nikki Giovanni and Cecily Tyson, Tempt strives to make an impact on the world that will be felt for generations to come.
Known as a verbal force to be reckoned with, Tempt began her spoken word career in her early high school years. Taking her audience on an audible roller coaster ride of emotions she makes sure her message is understood by any means necessary. Whether she’s whispering or just holding an extended glare she specializes in building a connection with her audience that keeps them coming back.
Now as Tempt and the Limitless Literature team prepare for their entertainment tour next year look out for the first fiction book on the LL label, The Boss’s wife due out late 2009 as well as other spoken word artists and published works.

CHOCOLATE WONDER
(preview)
Daily I wonder
How our culture got so brainwashed.
When did we forget
That all shades of black are beautiful?
And
When did we let slavery’s residual effects monopolize our minds?
Seams ignorance is a sign of our times and
I’m tired of hearing
"Damn you pretty for a dark girl".
Don’t you see?
Your becoming all the man wants you to be.
He wants you to hate yourself
To hate
Where you came from
and blur where you’re going.
My skin is rich like the soil our ancestors dug in.
I am dark like the sweetest molasses.
And chocolate chicks aint only good for having fat asses.
This pigment I carry with me
Is for eternity
And it will
Never go away.
So from this day
Till eternity
People will never wonder if this chocolate girl is blue
Cause my head will be held high
Flaunting the hell outta this hue.
