The following is written for musicians and lyricists considering contributing to Al Qaynah.

Al Qaynah is a global effort and we're composers and musicians from different cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Afghanistan thusly is our metaphorical homeland.

The musical project is to blend western, Middle Eastern and eastern influences in a homogenous way. Emphasizing unity and flow - not differences. The musical vision is 'eastern metal'. It's an attempt to create a sound that truly reflects the urban experience of late modern western society, without adhering to common genre boundaries. By blending Middle Eastern and Indian influences with industrial and metal influences we seek to create a distinct and unique style of late modern metal - using the tonalities of the Middle East and India combined with a western base of monotone droning metal.

The conflicts between the western world and islamic and third world countries - between western governments and their own religious, cultural, political and ethnic minorities - between unchecked vulgar capitalism and the people who suffer its social and cultural pathologies - provide the motivations that fuel Al Qaynah. It is first and foremost a political project (but then again so is Britney Spears', she just doesn't know it). But as important as displaying discontent and frustration - to protest - it is crucial that the project also symbolizes that illusive possibility of peaceful and tolerant relations between all the people of the world.

The collaborations for Al Qaynah are done over the internet. We exchange sound files and everything is collected in Copenhagen where cutting, pasting, mixing etc. is performed.

If youre interested in writing/playing something for Al Qaynah, please let us know.

very symbolic of what is not happening in the world right now, unification of cultures for one purpose. i am feeling the power of "empire". would love to share some sounds I have created and would appreciate your criticism. if it is something you like, if I may, ask to possibly collaborate on something with you.

According to a hermetic text "91 parts of the earth" Afghanistan is the place where the heart and the consciouness, the "wil(ling)", the mind meets. If someone tries to conquer that land it means they want control over the idealistic goals in the heart of the people. If the two meet it's a peacemaking effort that blends the heart (Middle East should be reflect the heart if they were able to) and idealism (the West), if not, it's conflictmaking thing (extremism, fascism, one-eyed nationalism,..). Anyhow, it is a difficult, often aggressive meeting point with conflict, with some beautiful exceptions if man weren't so close to their greedy struggle-for-survival irregular-animalistic nature.

So it's a nice thing when you take Afghanistan as a centre for a goal like yours. Great !!

That must be why western goverments are "fighting for peace" in Afghanistan. I am affraid i live in a Mindless, Ignorant and Un-Ethical society, controled by capitalism telling you what you want, not what you need like happiness?

good point.

I am influenced by Greek rebetika from around 1920 when the refugees rocorded on 78's, sufi & dervish, Moshe Koussevitzsky, Dub in all of its forms, Jani Christou & many others . . . but importantly I live for collaboration, the morphology of sound.  Hope to hear from U.

hello
I just discover, it's a project and not a band...sorry
I'm very interested to contribute (for the symbol and the good music too!)
do you send some sample too, to work on them or is it just in one way ?
because, it seems to be difficult for me to work without nothing, and without knowing what you're looking for with precision ;)
see you

As we aren't a metal band, (more tribal/folk/ consciousness rock)  and we don't have any way of recording at the moment (as we just really started solidifying our sound, I don't see any way for us to colaborate at the moment musically... however I believe in what you are doing.. I think that your message of unity is wonderful, and I would love to at least be added on as one of your friends.  Keep rockin.. Keep spreading the message of peace, hope, unity, and human conscious evolution.

Thanks for doing what you do.

Lino D Intino

Just saw SC3 last night without ever having heard their music, and got totally blown away.  I mean t-o-t-a-l-l-y.  Brilliant show.  I went to their myspace to check it out and then followed a link to this.  Love the samles on this Al Quaynah page!!

All I can do to contribute in a small way is to get this stuff on the air, via my show.  And I will.  Contact me if this is ever of interest.

Lino

PS.  I'm not looking for freebies.  I don't care if I get a cd-r wrapped in tissue lol.  I just want to put good music out there.
