(6.11.08) Tiger Weekly talks Tall Grass and Kid vs Camera....
"Starring in the film is Brady Crane, who hosts Largely Ironic Karaoke every Wednesday at Red Star bar, and is a fellow aspiring filmmaker best known for his work on the 80's Night documentary film, "Just What I Needed."—KAIYA MORRISON

(6.6.08) Brady talks TALL GRASS on ESPN Radio [transcript]
JL:You guys shot a lot in Baton Rouge right?
BC: Shot completely in Baton Rouge, but it doesn't take place here exactly. It's kind of an unnamed town.
JL: Right, it's your town America.
BC: Right. Similar circumstances.
JL: So, tell us a little about this film. This feels like a Baton Rouge film.
BC: Very much so. Anyone who is practicing film or making movies around here would sympathize with my character in the movie. The main character, Hanks. Because he's trying to make a movie and pull off this huge feat with absolutely no resources. It's just a really unique movie. It's told in a unique way. Jeff has set up something that is ambiguous so he's not spoon-feeding the audience. It makes the audience get involved and piece together these puzzles as they are presented along the way.
JL: Can you give us a plot synopsis? You're the main character, what's he about?
BC: He's really stuck in this dead end town. Like I said, no resources whatsoever. Nothing going on. So he gets his friends to work on the movie. He's got a cast of two or three people, a crew of less than that. Just trying to do something that seems almost impossible and has all these tribulations along the way. I don't want to give too much away, because like you said it is a short film, about 20 minutes. Hanks has so much working against him, the fact that he has nothing. And he tries to do it. I won't tell you if he succeeds or not, you'll have to go see it.
JL: Spoiler alert! Be careful. Of course this is relevant because we have a movie board on the site, and we joke with Brady all the time, because he says he's not a huge sports fan. But like all of us growing up in Baton Rouge, he's had his exploits.
BC: Oh yeah, growing up—
JL: What's your best sports accomplishment, slash failure?
BC: It's all failure. Growing up playing little league baseball and basketball, that cancelled out any future I had in sports. One occasion that comes to mind is playing baseball, probably when I was 5 or 6, and I just could not even hit a ball off of a tee. Which is just sad. I finally got it one time and was so excited. It just went sailing out of there and instead of taking off for first base, I ran to third.
JL: Oh, you were that kid. Who's cousins with the kid who shoots in the wrong basketball goal. That's awesome, man. But you've got the acting thing going. And obviously you've been a filmmaker for a long time, since high school right?
BC: Yeah, and you too, I think?
JL: Well, I don't know. I dabble. But we appreciate you coming in. Life in the Tall Tall Grass premieres tomorrow, and the proceeds are going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
BC: Yeah, it's a fundraiser. And all proceeds fund research into CF.
JL: Great, so if you're coming from the LSU game you're right in that area, stop by Christian Street and see the film made by Jeff Roedel. An excellent photographer and writer for 225 magazine. You can read his features every month in 225. Jeff is another one of those talented guys. Baton Rouge has a thriving art scene we are trying to support, and we appreciate Brady coming in. Do you have a prediction of how many games this series is going to go to?
BC: Honestly, I have no idea.
JL: Give us a wager. LSU in two or LSU in three?
BC: Three, why not.

(5.30.08) BaRou is the New Bklyn reviews Kid vs Camera....
"Their EP covers a lot of ground in just five songs. It's got pretty harmonics, harmonicas, acoustic guitar and heavy high hat, but when Polly Math goes electric, they rock the jangly guitars and spacey jammz (the latter phrase was an attempt to describe my favorite track, "Bury the Cures")."—COLLEEN KANE

(5.23.08).... Interview for LSU's Department of Film & Media Arts—TRISH SUCHY

(5.16.08) ABryanPhoto.blogspot.com reviews the Kid vs Camera EP
"If you only have a buck, you HAVE to get the track 'Roman Room Trick.' It might be my favorite track of the year so far. The entire EP is magic so don't miss out!"—BRYAN JOHNSON

(4.25.08) TheOrdinary.org reviews the Kid vs Camera EP
"Beauty in diversity. A lovely mix of lovely songs. Enough lush for those who like a good harmony and enough rock for those who like it like that. 'Like a soldier I am longing for home' is an apropos line from the lead track. I can't place the longing I get from it, but the warmth I glean is as unmistakable as it is mysterious. It's like the Beach Boys meets modern independent music meets the feeling that makes you want to love your lady better, all the way till she calls you home in the last track 'Sunshine Someday.'"—CARY NORTON

(4.11.07) SPIN.com names the Harlan "Computer Games Under the Sun" clip its "Video of the Day"
"Harlan's 'Computer Games Under the Sun' could be the most touching journey undertaken by an inanimate object in a music video since Blur highlighted the pathos of a half-pint of milk in "Coffee & TV". Inspired by the surreal paintings of Harlan's creator, John Harlan Norris, the clip follows a mysterious bottle of household cleaner on a quest to bury his past. If the premise sounds a bit bleak, the quartet's rhythmic Beck-meets-XTC bleeps keep it from being a bummer. Harlan's The Still Beat is beating now on Odd Thud Records.—BRIANA MOWREY
