NVS’ desire to become a DJ peaked at age 13 by the influences of DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Premier, and DJ Scratch. He credits his ear for music to the New York culture, always listening to radio and watching the newest Hip Hop videos. He’s direct DJ influence was DJ Craze who was the first person NVS competed against in 95 and then started a DJ crew called Tech-masters. Shortly afterwards, at the tender age of 17, he entered and won his first DJ battle and nearly a decade later his experiences have allowed him to master countless genres of music.
His move to Miami in 1992 initiated a remarkable sequence of high profile appearances and collaborations coinciding with Miami’s blossoming urban music lifestyle and allowed for previous appearances on 103.5 the Beat, BET, MTV2 and more. He has spun in CA, NY & Miami’s most renowned venues including The AAA Arena, the Versace Mansion, Crobar, Opium/Prive/Mansion, Nikki Beach, Space, just to name a few. He also spun for P. Diddy at three Miami events. From high profile club events and private parties, NVS has a style all his own and gives new meaning to ambiance, creating an environment nestled on his smooth transitions regardless what genre he is mixing.
Currently NVS is the resident DJ @ the world famous Karu & Y on Saturday nights in the Main Room. Also, NVS is lending his expertise to Mixtape projects for independent & major label artists. Well respected by hip-hop’s most beloved stars and DJ’s, NVS has provided turntable scratches for artists such as Too Short, Lil Jon, Trick Daddy and 2 Pac. In the summer of 2006, he won BET’s Spring Bling DJ Battle on TV and had a guest appearance on BET’s Rap City afterwards in the same year. Another previous prestige title was winning the 2004 Winter Music Conference DJ scratch competition. The future holds more high profile events, celebrity collaborations, and national recognition for DJ NVS Styles.
