Something new for 2007--a subscription to the San Diego Opera. Kinda funny, since I've never even been to the opera before...

Februrary I shall be seeing Camille Saint-Saëns Samson and Delilah, in March it's Il Travatore by Verdi, and April will bring Alban Berg's Wozzeck.

I'm giddy with anticipation...

From the production of Samson and Delilah I'll be seeing...

I know you're not a big opera fan, but I thought the name "Saint-Saëns" was a good sign, the Verdi is famous, and I like Berg (plus it's really experimental). It should be entertaining, and hopefully some good music thrown in.

"If a thing isn't worth saying, you sing it."
-Pierre Beaumarchais

I've never enjoyed opera.....I've also never seen one.  I'm imagining that the theatrical element plays a vital role, I'm hoping.

Best of luck.  Here's another quote which I'm sure you've heard.

"Opera is when a guy gets stabbed in the back and, instead of bleeding, he sings."-Ed Gardner

Oh definitely--I really have no desire to listen to opera, but the spectacle of it should be more than enough to justify the money.

I like that Beaumarchais quote a lot. :)

You're a fan of the opera, right? Have you gone to any?

I was watching Persuasion the other day with my mom and their was this scene where the characters were watching an operatic singer in a sort of assembly.  I was like, "Mom have you ever heard of Fresno doing anything concerning operas?"  And of course the answer was no.  So the point of this is to say I'm green with jealousy and hope you enjoy the operas very much!!
