Current mood:  hopeful
I may have just come up with the most delicious smoothie recipe ever known to man. First, start with your leftover oatmeal from the morning before. Add frozen bananas, strawberries and blueberries. Add a half of an avocado, a scoop of vanilla fat free yogurt and some orange juice. Throw in a few raw almonds and some flax seeds. Blend and ENJOY! Yummy yummy yummy. Is this an approach to songwriting as well? Blending a combination of leftovers, some classic ingredients, a little bit of sweetness and some rather unusual, experimental additions to end with a tasty treat? If only it was that easy!

So I have been working on my first song and it has been f-in torture! Surprisingly enough, I am actually quite pleased with the guitar part. I now need to come up with the vocal melody and lyrics. This is the part I find terribly overwhelming. There seem to be ENDLESS possibilities of notes and words to choose from, but none seem to be quite right. I have changed the song countless times from an emotional ballad to a silly lighthearted song to an angry pessimistic expression, all to the same chords. I realized that if I am not careful, I could end up doing this forever! So that I don’t get stuck on this path, I need to set a deadline. By June 1st I will have at least two songs complete. This way I won’t spend the better part of my 20’s locked in my room tweaking the same damn song! Then, I will set a new goal of having 3 songs complete by the end of the summer. Then maybe 3 more in the following months. Then, there you go, an album is born. HA!
