Hello People, my name is Pete Bassman, i am one of the founding members of the Rugby Psychedelic music scene . In the beginning i was a drummer and not a very good one, our first band was very inept but set the template for the future . As other people came on the scene things changed rapidly and the scene evolved . For a decade or so i played in three different bands The Spacemen, The Push and The Darkside . In the early 90's i put together my own band Alphastone who released four albums . After a reunion tour of Europe in 2002 i stopped using the Alphastone name and recorded and gigged as The Spacejunk Cowboys and The Nuclear Sirens . In 2007 i decided to form a new live band with the idea to play mostly Alphastone songs, the end result was a three piece featuring Uber bassman Chris Hirons and ex Jelly head drummer Crow. Eventually Gareth replaced Chris on bass due to Chris's commitment to the Jellyheads and his own Going After Zen project. We ditched the Alphastone material and wrote some new stuff, 70's punk and 60's garage punk , psychedelia , and maybe some other shit thrown in ,my aim was to create a stripped down heavy fuzz rock sound , a rennaisance of the original Rugby Psychedelic sound . Halfway through 2007 disaster strikes Gareth gets mugged and has his eye socket smashed, surgery and implants save his sight and after a couple of months we play our debut gig in Rugby at the very first Strip Club. Towards the end of 2007 after working hard on the band the final spanner is thrown in to the works by our drummer Crow who chose to leave the band because he could not handle the pressure! So same old story my efforts are brought down by apathy. Thanks to the hugely talented Henry Pritchard The Urgz was resurrected early 2009, Henry has been playing in his own band The Retards and Young Offender and since Young Offender had thrown the towel in Henry joined up with Gareth and myself. So it all had a happy ending and i sincerely hope we can get out and entertain people.
