Time, Money and Happy Canada Day to all our friends around the world!

July 1^st, Canada turned 140 years old, but we still have body of a 120 year old.  I had the good pleasure of being involved in the Downsview Park Rock The Park Celebration and I wanted to share some new music with you.  In other words, I got inspired to be of service to our fans and supporters.

I really think that it's easy for music acts to get self absorbed and think about how can I/We sell more of our music?  Being a capitalist (left leaning capitalist, but capitalist non-the-less) I think that the best of everything should be generously rewarded and why shouldn't the rest of you bands that are reading sell more stuff – I am not talking about Nickleback riches, just enough to be a full time musician.

If you fish, think like the fish, not like a fisherman.  Be where the fish want to be, offer what the fish want.  Then you improve your chances to succeed.  So bands, think like your fans for a change and ask yourself what do they want.  Maybe they love music but they are stressed out and can't or won't spend the 8 hours a day you have to on myspace.  So being as you are there – why not save them the time and tell them what you think the other great bands are.  They already like you, I bet they'll like your recommendations too.

Artists: 

Try it out and tell me how it works out for you.  If we can help direct music fans to finding and buying even $2 or $10 of new music each month, they will thank us for it and we will be helping build a stronger middleman-free music business that can only be better for us.

Music Fans: 

Tell me if my suggestions (or other artist suggestions) are meaningful for you.  The idea here is if you like my music, I have an idea of what else you might like.  If I can save you some time and enrich your life culturally, that can only have some pretty good karma coming back my way one day.

Check them out – there might be something you want to own.  If you love blues, Pat the White has a fabulous CD with originals and a great cover of "Whipping Post."  Trophy has a song that is infectiously stuck in my head and I hope you like it too.  Same with Rally Car - These guys crashed at my place and I got to know them a little better.  They have a song called "California's Lost" that I wish I wrote.  It's so good.  Faber Drive I just got to know and I think you should give them 10 minutes of your time and see if you like them.  If you're not from Canada, you may or may not know 54-40.  They have been around since the 80's and as I get to know them more as fellow artists, I just can't stop being a fan.  They have so many hits and they have been such an influence on me as a song writer.  You can reach them all (as well as the Rock Star performers, if you watch TV) from the myspace above.  Or, to save you time, here's some direct links for you:
