DIGITAL TELEVISIONI do not have cable TV. I do not have satellite TV either. I refuse to pay for television when it's already distributed freely.
I use the ol' rabbit ears, just a simple amplified TV antennae. I get the basic stations; ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, WB, CW, WGBH. And I only watch a few shows regularly;
House, CSI, Family Guy, 2 1/2 Men.
Usually the picture's pretty good. Sometimes though, over-the-air "analog" TV can be annoying. Every now and then, I'll get static in the sound or snow in the picture. And even adjusting the antennae doesn't always help.
However, that all changed today.
Today, I installed my
Magnavox DTV Digital to Analog Converter. WOW! What a difference.
I'm now picking up digital television signals (still FREE) over the air. And I'm still using my rabbit ears. Only now I'm watching digital television. And holy cow, this picture is amazing. No static. No snow. Ever again.
Seriously. The digital signal is either on or off, there's no in between.
I'm also now picking up many many more stations. And stations within stations. I can change languages. Watch with closed captions. Watch in wide-screen. Even block content based on MPAA and/or TV ratings.
Now most of you have already enjoyed these "hi-tech" features as they come with paid-for TV. So pardon me, if I sound just a little too excited about all this. But,
daayum!
What a GREAT no-cost way to watch TV!

PS. Incidentally, broadcasting of analog TV will cease on February 18th, 2009 as mandated by federal law. Every household has a right to two $40 coupons towards the purchase of Digital to Analog Converters. I've already used my coupons. You can apply for yours at https://www.dtv2009.gov/.
PPS. For those who haven't seen me in a while, I've attached a recent photo. That's me and my little friend Jayden.
PPPS. If you haven't seen it yet and you're looking for a good time and a good laugh -
Kung Fu Panda is hilarious! GREAT movie!
