Thank you all for making this year's Moonlit Matinee Film Fest another successful one. Considering how quickly the whole event had to come together, we are quite pleased. It was great to see so many familiar faces throughout the summer. Your support is touching, and greatly appreciated. A huge "thank you" goes out to the staff (Adam, Miranda, Josh, Nick and Jennifer) of the theater for helping to make everything run smoothly. MARY, our weekend warrior, we miss you! Best of luck to you this fall.

That said, we are already thinking about next year. And we are asking you for your suggestions. What classic / cult films are you dying to see on the big screen? We've got lots of ideas here, and we know you do as well. So, please share them! And let's make next year's Moonlits AMAZING! Thank you all for your support. Until next time...

We are definitely screening one of the John Hughes films... Breakfast Club is the most requested. Maybe Sixteen Candles.

I've gotten a request for a Don Knotts movie as a more family-friendly choice... have you guys seen The Ghost and Mr. Chicken?

Buster Keaton is always a possibility.

Thanks again for your support, Paulette.

Randy,

You're welcome for the support. I grew up going to The Oaks and now my boys are growing up going to The Oaks. It's the only movie theater we will go to! My boys know "If it's not at The Oaks, we wait until it's out on DVD.
"

We haven't seen The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, but I just watched a clip of it on youtube and it looks like a great movie. A movie I would definitely bring my boys to see. You can't go wrong with Donn Knotts. You could get a movie with him just standing there and the audience would be cracking up hysterically.

Frankenstein~1931 version
Dracula~1931 version

Bye,
Paulette

Randy,

I would love to see any Stanley Kubrick film, Jaws, An American Werwolf in London, any John Carpenter film (especially The Thing or Halloween), Dirty Harry, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Exorcist, The Omen, Texas Chainsaw Massacre- there are so many!!

Also, is there any chance of having a Horror-Fest during the month of October? Unfortunately, those seem to have disappeared from the theaters around here.

Thanks!

Jaws is definite.

John Carpenter thinking... The Thing , Big Trouble in Little China, Halloween
Kubrick is always a possibility.

Would love to do a horror series in october. It's not impossible. Will certainly keep you posted.

Thanks, Gary

Basket Case...anything by Henenlotter.

I always have a million movies on my mind but one thing I'd like to see more of is movies that take place during the summertime, like One Crazy Summer, Sleepaway Camp, The Burning, the first Friday the 13th, etc...

all excellent ideas. thanks, ed.

definitely more horror next year. part of my problem this year was not knowing how to track down films that aren't immediately accessible through major distributors. we will not have that problem next year.

thanks for the suggestions, ed

Hey Randy, I know I'll probably talk to you 10,000 times before then about this, but a couple of things to consider:

- Ghostbusters was insane. The midnight movies people want to see are the ones they grew up seeing. Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the non-special edition Star Wars flicks. The key time period for this would probably be 1968 - 1993.

- a lot of the Oaks' moonlit business in the past has been from the weird cult or horror flicks - granted this can't be the whole line up, but these are key for business.

- don't be shy about repeat programming - look at Rocky as an example. People keep coming back again and again because they love the film. It was great to see Cool Hand Luke last summer (2007), but it's not something that's as likely to generate repeat business as, say, The Evil Dead.

- Two words: The Godfather.

Thanks for the suggestions, Rachel...

The sequel to Lost Skeleton is listed as being in post-production on imdb. Definitely looking forward to that.

Many similar ideas... wacky sci-fi , classic monster, camp. First hurdle is figuring out what's available. Tried to book a John Waters film this year but New Line was closing and its films were in limbo... off to WarnerBros.

Thanks again.
