These are carne fries. (Not fries served to carnies; those would be carny fries.) They're like disco fries (poutine), which are mixed with cheese and topped with gravy, but carne fries are topped with carne asada. This dish is supposedly from San Diego. Those blown-out white squares are queso fresco. There are some grilled scallions in there too. I didn't make the fries -- bought those fresh from the Belgian fry place around the corner, rushed them home and put it together -- but the carne asada was leftover homemade. That's where I got the idea, as a way of using up leftover carne asada. (In the back there is sauteed green beans with tomato, onion and a lot of garlic.

So anyway, it was yummy enough. But it got old about half way through, and it's just not that digestible. I was still feeling it a day later.

I wouldn't exactly call that cooking!

But, yes, I like to cook. :^)

I love pictures of food. I find myself doing it constantly when I cook big meals for myself and others. It makes it so much more worth it. You do it with take-out: very creative!

I've never had them in San Diego. Just stumbled on a recipe when trying to figure out what to do with left-over carne asada. There's another reason for me to go back to San Diego. I have a niece who lives there. (But what's wrong with it? I liked it. Dry heat. Friendly people.)
